Pompompurin Transforms into Onigiri and Puppies in New Munyugurumi Patio Merch

Pompompurin has once again proven its enduring popularity by taking first place in the 2026 Sanrio Character Ranking. The golden retriever character earned a record-breaking 70,647,379 votes—112% of last year’s total—marking its second consecutive win and fifth overall, all in its 30th anniversary year. Cinnamoroll came in second, followed by Pochacco, Kuromi, and Hello Kitty in third through fifth places.

To celebrate, the character goods shop Munyugurumi Patio is releasing a fresh lineup of squishy merchandise. The “Mokomoko Onigiri Munyugurumi Mascot” turns Pompompurin and his friend Muffin into adorable rice balls, each topped with a crispy shrimp tempura. The mascots are available in two versions.

In addition, the existing “Honobono Picnic Series” will also go on sale at eligible stores starting the same day.

Fans of canine transformations will also enjoy the “Wanwan Paradise Series,” in which Pompompurin appears as a variety of dog breeds. The lineup includes munyugurumi mascots, clear sticker sheets, postcard sets, and more.

Shoppers who purchase 5,000 yen (tax included) or more of Sanrio products, including the Honobono Picnic Series, will receive a special novelty shopper bag.

The “Mokomoko Onigiri Munyugurumi Mascot” will be available at Munyugurumi Patio storefronts from September 3, 2026.
