A special Pokémon event is bringing more than 100 Pokémon to the streets of Tokyo’s Nihonbashi and Yaesu districts. Titled “Encounter Legendary Pokémon: Legend Research in Nihonbashi & Yaesu,” the event runs from September 9 to November 29, 2026, and includes statues, decorations, and a puzzle-solving rally. A media preview was held on September 8, offering a first look at the Pokémon-filled cityscape.

Pokémon Appear Across the City
The event is part of the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Pokémon series, which began with the release of Pocket Monsters Red and Green on February 27, 1996. Since then, the franchise has expanded into games, anime, movies, card games, and merchandise, with over 1,000 Pokémon now known.
At venues managed by the Mitsui Fudosan Group—including Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower, COREDO Muromachi Terrace, and Tokyo Midtown Yaesu—19 Pokémon, including legendary ones, appear as statues. In addition, more than 100 Pokémon are scattered throughout the buildings and outdoor areas.

Walking through the area, the statues blend into the everyday scenery, making familiar streets feel fresh and exciting. But the fun isn’t limited to the large figures. As you move around, you’ll spot Pokémon in unexpected places—on walls, pillars, and even hanging decorations. The sheer number and variety mean there’s always another discovery just around the corner.

One of the event’s highlights is that the Pokémon are not confined to a single venue. They appear across multiple locations, encouraging visitors to explore the entire Nihonbashi and Yaesu area. From the historic streets of Nihonbashi to the modern high-rises of Yaesu, the changing scenery adds to the adventure.

Viewing the Pokémon on display is completely free. For those seeking a more interactive experience, a paid puzzle-solving rally titled “Pokémon Legend Research: Awaken the Legendary Research Report!” is also available. Created by RIDDLER, a puzzle-creator group led by the Pokémon enthusiast Matsumaru Ryogo, the rally is designed to be enjoyable for both beginners and seasoned puzzle fans. Participants walk around the area, search for Pokémon, and use hidden clues to solve the mystery.

Original goods featuring newly drawn key visual artwork for the event are also on sale, making for a perfect souvenir.

The event aims to highlight the joy of discovering Pokémon while strolling through the city, and the Nihonbashi and Yaesu area—with its diverse attractions—was chosen as the ideal setting for this urban adventure.

Whether you plan a dedicated visit or drop by while shopping, dining, or catching a movie, this is a great opportunity to enjoy a Pokémon-filled walk through the heart of Tokyo.
