A Look Back at the GochiUsa Anime Journey
The rabbit-eared cafe crew first hopped onto screens back in Spring 2014 with the first TV anime season by White Fox. The cozy adventures continued with a second season in Fall 2015, co-produced by White Fox and Kinema Citrus. The franchise also treated fans to special episodes like Gochuumon wa Usagi desu ka? Sing for You in November 2017 and the OVA Gochuumon wa Usagi desu ka? Dear My Sister in September 2019, both handled by production doA.
The most recent TV installment, the third season titled Gochuumon wa Usagi desu ka? Bloom, aired in Fall 2020 and was produced by Encourage Films (now known as Kachigarasu). International fans enjoyed streaming it on Crunchyroll and HIDIVE. For physical collectors, Sentai Filmworks has licensed all three seasons in North America, releasing them on home video over the years.
About the Source Manga
All this sweetness originates from Koi‘s delightful slice-of-life comedy manga, often shortened to GochiUsa. It began serialization in Manga Time Kirara MAX in January 2011. The story has been collected in several volumes, with the 13th volume published by Houbunsha in August.
On the English publishing front, the manga had a brief stint with Sol Press starting in late 2020, but after their closure, Yen Press picked up the license in April 2024. They’ve been steadily releasing volumes, with the fourth out now and the fifth scheduled for May 2026.
