What is “Majutsushi Kunon wa Mieteiru”?
Majutsushi Kunon wa Mieteiru is a magical research fantasy centered on a blind genius magician. It’s based on the novel by Minamino Kaifuu, which ranked #1 overall in the annual rankings of “Shousetsuka ni Narou” (Let’s Become a Novelist) as of August 31, 2022. The protagonist, a boy named Kunon, has been blind since birth. However, he is a prodigious magician who surpassed his teacher’s skill after just five months of study. The story follows Kunon as he delves into magical tools and sorcery as fields of academic study, driven by his curiosity to explore the world with the goal of “creating new eyes through magic.”
The novel currently has 8 volumes published under the Kadokawa Books label, and the manga adaptation serialized in Monthly Comic Alive has 6 volumes to date. The TV anime is directed by Ooba Hideaki with animation production by Platinum Vision.

Episode 1 Preview: “Colorful World”
Synopsis
Long ago, a great war against the Demon King erupted. After the hero who defeated the Demon King, it became common for his descendants to occasionally be born missing “something.” People came to call this phenomenon the “Hero’s Scar.”
The birth of Kunon Gurion, the second son of a Marquis family born blind, was celebrated by the people. Yet, trapped in darkness, Kunon gradually closed off his heart.
He bears the Water Crest, and his tutor, Jenny, teaches him water magic. A single casual remark from her is about to completely change Kunon’s life: “You could just use magic to create eyes.“
Broadcast & Streaming Information
Episode 1 “Colorful World” of the winter anime Majutsushi Kunon wa Mieteiru will begin airing on Sunday, January 4th at 22:00 on TOKYO MX, followed by BS Asahi and WOWOW. It will also be available for exclusive streaming on ABEMA and d-Anime Store, with the first two episodes being released at once for the premiere.
