Which “Masked” Character Comes to Mind? Survey Deadline is February 14th

Which character comes to mind when you think of 'masked' characters?

February 24th is Gekkou Kamen Appearance Day!

Did you know? February 24th marks a special day in anime and tokusatsu history—it’s Gekkou Kamen Appearance Day (which can be translated as “Moonlight Mask”). This commemorates the broadcast debut of the classic TV drama Gekkou Kamen back in 1958. Talk about a blast from the past!

There’s something inherently cool and mysterious about characters who hide their faces. Whether they’re heroes, villains, or somewhere in between, that concealed identity adds a layer of intrigue that fans just eat up. In the anime world, masked characters are everywhere, from iconic staples to scene-stealing surprises, and their secrets often drive the plot in thrilling ways.

That’s why Anime! Anime! is bringing back our popular reader survey: “Which character comes to mind when you think of ‘masked’ characters?” We ran this last year, and the response was awesome, so we’re doing it again! Just tell us your top pick—any anime, game, manga, or 2D content character is fair game. No multiple choice here; it’s all free response, so shout out your favorite!

More Surveys Waiting for Your Voice!

This isn’t the only topic we’re exploring! We’ve got a whole lineup of surveys on various character themes. Share your thoughts and help us see what resonates with the community.

A quick disclaimer: This survey is all about gauging current fan interests and trends in anime and characters. It’s not meant to rank characters or works in any competitive way—think of it as a fun snapshot of what’s capturing our hearts right now. We hope it helps you discover new series or deepen your love for existing ones!
