Tamagotchi was first released on November 23, 1996, by Bandai as a digital pet that became a huge boom among female high school students. Later, in 2004, it returned as ‘Kaettekita! Tamagotchi Plus’ with infrared communication, and series with new features have been released worldwide. As of the end of July 2025, cumulative global shipments have reached 100 million units.
Nearly 30 years after its debut, it continues to resonate with long-time fans and captivate new generations.
