Sanrio has a brand-new unit for fans of its iconic bunny characters. On June 9, 2026, the company launched Cheeristails (チアリステイルズ), a group formed by four beloved rabbit characters: Marron Cream, Usahana, Wish me mell, and Bonbon Ribbon. Alongside the announcement, the unit’s official X (formerly Twitter) account went live, signaling the start of a multi-platform project that will include original music, merchandise, and live events.

Cheeristails brings together characters who debuted across four decades—from the 1980s through the 2010s—each with their own devoted fanbase. The unit name is a portmanteau: “Cheer” (support), “-ist” (a person who does something), and “tails” (tails, with a phonetic nod to “tales” meaning stories). The idea is that these four unique rabbits will cheer on fans taking their own “one step” forward, weaving together the tales of cheerists.
The group’s concept is built around the phrase “4つのしっぽと一緒にいっぽ” (one step together with four tails). Cheeristails aims to stand by people who feel lost about their individuality or struggle with daily worries, encouraging them to cherish their uniqueness and move forward.
With the launch, the official X account is now open. Upcoming plans include the creation of an original theme song, a feature in the August issue of Ichigo Shimbun (on sale July 10, 2026), and a special booth and stage appearance at Sanrio Fest 2026 in Minato Mirai on June 27–28. The unit’s first-ever Sanrio original merchandise is slated for autumn 2026. These digital, print, event, and product initiatives will introduce Cheeristails’ charm from multiple angles.
