KURE 5-56 Collab CM Steals the Spotlight in ‘Hokuto no Ken’ Episode 13 – Rei and Airi’s Tearful Reunion Takes a Backseat

What was supposed to be a heart-wrenching episode of Hokuto no Ken -FIST OF THE NORTH STAR- turned into an unexpected comedy break when a collaboration commercial for KURE 5-56 (Kure 556) infiltrated the action. Episode 13, titled “Bloodstained Trap,” aired on June 20, 2026, and while it delivered the long-awaited confrontation between the Kiba clan and Kenshiro’s group, viewers couldn’t stop talking about the lubricant ad that stole the show.

Last week’s episode 12 ended with the shocking reunion of Rei and his long-lost sister Airi. This week, the emotional fallout continued as Rei, normally calm and collected, lost all composure upon seeing Airi held hostage by the Kiba clan. The episode opened with Rei rushing toward her, ignoring Kenshiro’s warnings and the obvious trap set by the enemy.

Rei and Airi: A Broken Reunion

“What is this… a dream? A… Airi… You’re alive! If this is a dream, don’t let it end!” Rei’s desperate words echoed as he approached his sister, whom he believed dead. But Airi’s condition was far from a happy ending. Kneeling, she spoke in a hollow voice: “A new master, I see. Where will you take me this time? I will not run. I will obey anything. Please, be kind to me…”

Viewers were devastated. “With so few lines, you can tell she’s been through hell,” one wrote. “Her heart is broken,” another added. The tragedy deepened when it was revealed that Airi had deliberately blinded herself by pouring chemicals into her eyes, unable to bear the horror of her captivity. “This girl got the hardest mode,” a fan lamented.

Even as Kenshiro tried to hold him back, Rei was fixated on reaching Airi. The audience felt his pain: “Even Rei, usually so composed, is shaken enough to fall for such a simple trap.”

Kenshiro vs. Madara: “Kisama wa sude ni shinde iru”

The Kiba clan’s boss appeared, holding a blade to Airi’s throat, and unleashed his monstrous underling Madara. Madara attacked Kenshiro with inhuman ferocity, prompting comments like “What is this guy?” and “He’s not even human anymore.” Kenshiro easily defeated him and delivered a variation of his iconic line: “Kisama wa sude ni shinde iru” (“You are already dead”). Fans noted that while the anime often uses “Omae wa mou shinde iru,” the original manga only used that exact phrase once, making this alternate version a treat for purists.

Mamiya’s Brave Sacrifice

After Madara’s defeat, the boss turned his attention to Mamiya, taking her hostage. Mamiya offered herself in exchange for Airi’s freedom, a move that moved even Rei. “Mamiya’s guts are beyond compare,” viewers said. Rei’s declaration, “I would give my whole life for that woman!” drew cheers. However, the plan failed, and both women ended up as captives, raising the tension.

The KURE 5-56 CM That Broke the Internet

Just as the episode reached its peak suspense, a commercial break featured a collaboration between Hokuto no Ken and KURE 5-56, a well-known penetrating lubricant. Kenshiro himself appeared in the ad, promoting the product. The internet exploded: “What is this CM?!” “Kenshiro doing a commercial!” “The impact of that CM made it impossible to concentrate afterward.” Even after the break, viewers couldn’t stop laughing about the unexpected crossover.

A Kabuki Warrior and a Fiery Finale

Later, a fearless warrior from the Kiba clan appeared, striking a kabuki-like pose before attacking. He was quickly defeated by Kenshiro, exploding in midair while shouting “Tamaya!” (a traditional firework call). Fans roared: “Tamaya—!” “That explosion with ‘Tamaya!’ is too much (lol).”

The episode ended with Rei, still under the clan’s control, demanding that Kenshiro be killed. Viewers groaned, “It ends here?!” and noted that next week will be the final episode. “Already the finale? No!”
