The wildly unconventional manga Nabe ni Dangan wo Ukenagara (also known as Nabetama) is getting a TV anime adaptation, set to air in 2027. The announcement was accompanied by a striking teaser visual featuring the protagonist Juntaurou’s face front and center, surrounded by sticker-like designs evoking travel and food.
The story follows Juntaurou, a man who, after years of excessive consumption of two-dimensional media, now sees all humans as beautiful girls. He travels to cities around the world in search of “50,000 points of deliciousness,” sampling hidden and bizarre local cuisines that don’t appear in ordinary travel guides. The manga is described as a unique blend of nonfiction, chaos, and hard gourmet reportage.
The teaser visual prominently displays the catchphrase: “Beautiful girl (old man), world crazy gourmet trip, begins——” It teases the wild culinary journey ahead. Additionally, a character visual for Juntaurou has been released, showing him holding a suitcase, hinting at the travels to come.
Animation production is handled by J.C.STAFF, with broadcast scheduled for 2027.
