TV anime Kagurabachi is set to premiere in April 2027, and the latest cast announcement reveals that veteran sorcerer Shiba Tōgo will be voiced by Kōnishi Katsuyuki. Alongside the announcement, a character visual and a character PV have been unveiled.
Kagurabachi is a sword-fighting battle action series based on the manga by Hokazono Ken, serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. The series has surpassed 4 million copies in cumulative circulation (including digital editions). Directed by Takeuchi Tetsuya, the animation is produced by Cypic. The cast includes Kimura Taihi as the protagonist Rokuhira Chihiro.
The story follows Chihiro, a boy who aspires to become a swordsmith, and his father Kunishige, a renowned blade maker. Their peaceful days are brutally shattered by an attack from the mysterious sorcerer organization Hishaku. Chihiro, left in a world consumed by darkness, takes up the seventh enchanted blade Enten, left behind by his father, and embarks on a bloody path of revenge.
Shiba Tōgo is a veteran sorcerer with a long-standing relationship with the Rokuhira family. After Kunishige’s death, he lends his strength to Chihiro’s quest for vengeance. Though easygoing, his true power is immeasurable. He was formerly a member of the national sorcerer organization Kannabi.
Kōnishi expressed his excitement about joining the project, having read the manga when the first volume was released and hoping to be part of an anime adaptation. “Now that dream has come true, and I am overwhelmed with emotion,” he said.
