July 9th is designated as “Crying Day,” a memorial day named after the pun on “naku” (泣く), the Japanese word for crying, which sounds similar to “seven” (nana) and “nine” (kyuu).
Anime is filled with masterpieces that can make you shed a tear. Perhaps it’s a deeply moving finale, the heartbreaking farewell of beloved characters, or maybe even a simple, tender moment of everyday happiness that unexpectedly warms your heart… While the reasons for crying differ for everyone, these moments all leave a deep and lasting impression.
