The TV anime Magic Knight Rayearth has unveiled its second key visual and main promotional video, along with three new cast members for the characters who guide the Magic Knights.
Based on the beloved manga by CLAMP, which originally ran in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine, Magic Knight Rayearth captivated audiences with its epic world and memorable characters. Thirty years after the original 1994 TV anime, a new anime adaptation project was announced in 2024, drawing widespread anticipation.
Today, at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles, the world premiere of episodes 1 and 2 was held (July 4, 12:00–13:20 local time). After the screening, Rie Takahashi (Fū Hōōji) and Saori Hayami (Emeraude) took the stage for a talk panel, where the second key visual and main PV were revealed.
Alongside the visuals, the cast for the otherworldly characters who lead the Magic Knights was announced: Yuki Kaji as Clef, Emiri Kato as Presea, and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Ferio. Their comments follow below.
Yuki Kaji (Clef) Comment
“I have vivid memories of this work being hugely popular among the girls in my class when I was in elementary school. At the time, I couldn’t read or watch it due to the typical embarrassment of a boy in puberty (laughs), but with this opportunity to be in it, I finally experienced the work and truly understood its popularity. It has a unique originality and a timeless appeal. It’s a bible and an origin point. CLAMP’s world is amazing! I will play Clef with respect, so that we can pass the baton of Magic Knight Rayearth to a new generation. Please look forward to the broadcast!”
Clef
The highest-ranking guru in Cephiro, who teaches and guides the Magic Knights. Though he appears young, his actual age is 745 years.
Emiri Kato (Presea) Comment
“I am Emiri Kato, and I will be voicing Presea. I still can’t believe that I get to play Presea. I have known this work since I was a child, and I even played the games, so it is a very memorable series. Among the characters, Presea is one of my favorites—she warmly supports Hikaru, Umi, and Fū like a big sister I admired. When I auditioned, I rewatched the anime series to get as close as possible to my beloved Presea. I hope the fans can feel Presea’s warmth.”
Presea
A falu (creator) of Cephiro who forges weapons for the Magic Knights. Creating weapons consumes a great deal of her mental energy.
Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Ferio) Comment
“I am Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, and I will be playing Ferio. I am truly happy to be part of Rayearth, a series I’ve known for a long time! When I got the audition, I was shocked: ‘No way! Rayearth?!’ I want to cherish the world and express my own Ferio to the best of my ability. Please support Magic Knight Rayearth! (Personally, I’m on Presea’s side!)”
Ferio
A mysterious swordsman the Magic Knights meet in the Forest of Silence. He wields a sword as tall as himself with great skill and knows how to fight monsters.
The broadcast will begin on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 23:45 on the TV Asahi network’s “IMAnimation W” slot (nationwide, excluding some regions).
