The summer anime Mebius Dust has released the synopsis and advance scene cuts for its first episode, titled “First Light,” which begins airing on July 9, 2026.
Mebius Dust is an original anime based on the original concept by Shinagawa Hajime, winner of the Grand Prize in the “Kids Game Anime” category of Project ANIMA’s third round. It marks Doga Kobo’s first original supernatural battle anime. Directed by Iwasaki Tarou (Sweetness & Lightning, The Bibliophile Princess), the cast includes Takeuchi Yuuto as Araki, Hieda Nene as Stella, Satou Haruka as Olga, Saka Taito as Shousei, Ichikawa Aoi as Kai, Horikane Souhei as Haruto, Matsuda Sōmi as Kurusu, Mikami Shiori as Spica, and Kawase Maki as Dr. Yuda.
Ten years after a meteorite fall, mysterious particles called Mebius Dust emitted by a giant crystal have given some children a special ability known as Lamus. However, Lamus can only be activated within range of the Mebius Dust, and the children—called Lamus Carriers—are forbidden from leaving the town of Shinkatsushika. To vent their frustration, they form teams and immerse themselves in a territory-capture game using their abilities. High school student Araki is one of them; together with his sister Stella and childhood friend Olga, he forms the team Police Hopper and spends his nights absorbed in the game. One day, Dr. Yuda Mari, a researcher of Lamus, contacts them and asks for their cooperation in an experiment. Araki and his friends decide to help, setting their fate in motion.
#1 (Episode 1) “First Light”
The children, known as the Noughties, are engrossed in nightly games using Lamus. Among the five teams, Araki of Police Hopper dreams of one day leaving Shinkatsushika. Then, a researcher named Yuda Mari, who claims to be a huge fan of theirs, sends them a DM. She offers to let them leave town if they cooperate with her research.
What Dr. Yuda seeks is data on Lamus abilities. Even ten years after the meteorite fall, much about Lamus remains unexplained, which is why various restrictions have been placed on the children. The doctor wants them to provide data to help solve these mysteries.
However, the children are forbidden from using their abilities at full power. To get around this, Dr. Yuda gives them special items that allow them to use Lamus to its fullest without being caught publicly. Freed from their restraints, Araki and his friends become even more deeply absorbed in their late-night games.
Episode 1 of Mebius Dust airs on July 9 (Thursday) on TOKYO MX, BS Fuji, MBS, and other stations.
