Legendary car manga Initial D and Japanese watchmaker Seiko have teamed up again, this time for a timepiece inspired by the iconic RX-7 FD3S driven by Akagi RedSuns’ Keisuke Takahashi. The watch goes on sale from August 3, 2026, at the PREMICO online shop.
Initial D, created by Shigeno Shuichi, ran in Weekly Young Magazine from 1995 No. 30 to 2013 No. 35, surpassing 56 million copies in print. The series’ mountain-pass street races and detailed depictions of real cars left a major mark on car culture and gained a global following, with translations and broadcasts across Asia and Europe. 2025 marked the 30th anniversary of its serialization.
The watch’s yellow dial captures the provocative, vivid body color of Keisuke’s FD, while the black bezel creates a sporty contrast. Limited to 1,995 pieces—matching the year the manga began—each watch has an edition number engraved on the case back, ranging from 1 to 1995. It is a chronograph model with stopwatch and calendar functions.
Three subdials mimic the glowing red meters of the RX-7. At the 6 o’clock position, a subtle “D” logo is integrated into the design.
The 12 o’clock index is shaped like the triangular rotor of a rotary engine. At 3 o’clock, the Seiko logo sits alongside the red “RedSuns” team emblem.
The watch comes in a special bright yellow box, with the Initial D title logo and RedSuns team logo on the top.
Inside the lid, a color visual of Keisuke Takahashi and his RX-7 is featured.
