What is BLEACH?

For those unfamiliar, *BLEACH* is a thrilling sword-fighting battle action manga by Kubo Taito, serialized in Shueisha’s *Shuukan Shounen Jump* until its 38th issue in 2016. The story follows the protagonist, Ichigo Kurosaki, who gains the powers of a Shinigami (Soul Reaper) through a fateful encounter and becomes a “Shinigami Substitute.” He finds himself embroiled in the turmoil of the Soul Society (Soul Society), the place where souls who have died in the real world gather, and engages in fierce battles. Since its serialization began in 2001, *BLEACH* has garnered immense support, with its 74 collected volumes selling over 130 million copies worldwide. The TV anime adaptation aired from 2004 to March 2012, and four animated films were also released.

In recent years, the anime has returned with the climactic final arc, *Sennen Kessen-hen* (Thousand-Year Blood War Arc), featuring refreshed character designs and powered-up action.
