Fate/strange Fake New Series Announced at Anime NYC, PV and Teaser Visual Revealed

The TV anime Fate/strange Fake is getting a new series, it was announced during the “Fate/strange Fake Panel Stage” at Anime NYC in New York on August 22, 2026 (Japan time). Along with the announcement, a promotional video and teaser visual for the new series were unveiled.

Fate/strange Fake is a light novel series by Narita Ryohgo, known for Baccano! and the Durarara!! series, published by Dengeki Bunko since 2015. It is the first Holy Grail War set in the United States, depicting a chaotic battle among numerous mages (Masters) and Heroic Spirits (Servants). The story twists and turns through countless irregularities—missing classes, Servants who should never have been chosen, a nation operating in the shadows, and a city built for war—as a new battle over the Holy Grail unfolds.

The TV anime adaptation is produced by A-1 Pictures, the studio behind Fate/Apocrypha (2017). Directors Enokido Shun and Sakazume Takahito, who have consistently delivered fresh visual expressions in anime commercials for the game Fate/Grand Order and the original novel, bring the story to life with dynamic and bold animation. A TV special, Fate/strange Fake -Whispers of Dawn-, aired in July 2023, and the TV series began with an early broadcast of Episode 1 in December 2024, followed by a full run from January to March 2026.

The newly released PV and teaser visual for the new series feature Ayaka, Saber, and Sigma. Comments have also arrived from original author Narita Ryohgo, character designer Morii Shizuki, and cast members Hanazawa Kana (Ayaka Sajou), Ono Yuki (Saber), and Kajiwara Gakuto (Sigma). It’s been a few months since the teaser visual of Saber and the others facing a massive storm was revealed. In this new key visual and PV, the portraits of Ayaka, Saber, and Sigma shatter and mix together. What kind of trouble will they get caught up in, how will they be broken—and even then, will they piece together each other’s fragments and continue their false Holy Grail War? As the original author, I myself think, “How on earth are they going to animate this?!” But the staff have given us the best answer, and I look forward to the strange Fake visuals they weave, as a reader.
