The interactive film Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle- (also known as Hypmic Movie) is set to hold special 9th anniversary screenings starting September 2, the day the Hypnosis Mic project celebrates its ninth anniversary. The screenings will take place at 32 theaters across Japan.
About Hypnosis Mic
Hypnosis Mic is a music-originated character rap project that began in September 2017. It features 18 main characters divided into six teams: Ikebukuro, Yokohama, Shibuya, Shinjuku, Osaka, and Nagoya divisions, who engage in intense rap battles. The project has expanded into comics, game apps, stage plays, and anime.
The Interactive Movie
The film, released in 2025, is Japan’s first interactive movie. The outcome of rap battles on screen is determined by audience votes cast through a smartphone app. With five voting opportunities during the screening, the film offers 48 possible screening patterns and seven different endings. It achieved a box office revenue of over 2.8 billion yen.
9th Anniversary Visitor Bonus
For the 9th anniversary screening, a new visitor bonus has been announced: a clear card featuring an illustration by Kazui, the character designer. The card, titled “Today,” comes in eight random versions: Buster Bros!!!, MAD TRIGGER CREW, Fling Posse, Matenrou, Dotsuitare Honpo, Bad Ass Temple, Kotonoha Party, and Division Leaders. These cards are only available at the theaters and will be distributed while supplies last.
