The first theatrical film in the Meitantei Precure! series, Eiga Meitantei Precure! Fushigi na Niwa to Futari no Himitsu, has revealed movie-exclusive Future Forms for Cure Mystic, Cure Eclair, and Cure Arcana. A new trailer showcasing the powered-up heroines has also been released.
Meitantei Precure! is the 23rd Precure series. Its story begins when Akechi Anna, on her birthday in 2027, meets a fairy named Pochitan and is enveloped in a mysterious light that sends her time-traveling back to 1999. In that world, she crosses paths with Kobayashi Mikuru, a girl who aspires to be a detective, and Jet-senpai, a fairy who calls himself a genius doctor. Anna resolves to become a proper detective at the Kyuatto Detective Agency and transforms into Meitantei Precure, taking on a variety of difficult cases to recover clients’ precious belongings from the Phantom Thief Group Phantom.
Future Forms Revealed
The film opens nationwide on September 18. The newly unveiled Future Forms feature eye-catching golden wings and star motifs, preserving the lovable feel of the regular forms while gaining a more mysterious, elegant finish.
Character designer Miyamoto Emiko commented on the design concept: “Power-up forms tend to become gorgeous and heavy with added decoration, but this time, following the theme of ‘taking a step forward,’ I wanted to express ‘lightly stepping forward from where they were,’ so I deliberately went with a clean design based on subtraction.”
New Stills & Trailer
The new stills show all four Meitantei Precure heroes — including Cure Answer, whose Future Form was unveiled ahead of the others — in their Future Forms. Their poses, with arms spread wide as if reaching toward one another, leave a strong impression.
The latest trailer is the “Pochitan Miracle Light” edition, depicting a scene where everyone cheers to save the Precure from a pinch. Holding up a Miracle Light, Jet-senpai calls out loudly for everyone to light theirs. The Element Fairies, Pochitan, Shushutan, and Mashatan raise their lights with all their might, and the moment their cheers unite, the Precure power up into Future Form. It’s a 30-second spot that builds excitement for the main feature. The Pochitan Miracle Light is the film’s admission gift, given to children of middle school age and younger.
Listening Party
On September 17 at 7:00 PM, the day before the film opens, a “Eiga Tanpuri Koukai Kinen Listening Party” (Movie Tanpuri Release Commemoration Listening Party) will be held. A playlist of 19 songs — including the movie’s ending theme “FIRST PRISM” as well as opening theme songs from the TV series Meitantei Precure!, Kimi to Idol Precure♪, and Wandafuru Purikyua! — will be released on Spotify, LINE MUSIC, and YouTube Music.
Film Story
One day, the rumored “X Mark Case” occurs in town! When an X mark is stamped on something, that precious thing stops moving or becomes unusable, leaving everyone in trouble. While Anna and the others pursue the X Mark Case, a fairy client named Rein appears before them. His request: “Protect Karin from the Damedame!” Led by Rein, they arrive at a place as beautiful as a dream — “Karin’s Garden.” There, they meet a girl named Karin and a fairy named Alan who watches over her. Alan and Rein seem to hold Karin very dear. After befriending Karin, Anna and the others immediately begin their investigation — but suddenly, the Damedame appear in the peaceful garden. What are the Damedame, exactly? And what is the secret hidden in the mysterious garden? Cures from Kimi to Idol Precure♪ and Wandafuru Purikyua! also rush in to help! Connect the scattered clues together with Meitantei Precure! and solve the mystery at the movie theater!
