Street Fighter Live-Action Movie Reveals Scene Photos of Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li

The Hollywood live-action adaptation of Capcom’s iconic fighting game franchise Street Fighter has released a fresh set of scene photos, giving fans a closer look at Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li in action. Titled Street Fighter / The Movie, the film is scheduled to open worldwide on October 16, 2026.

Franchise Legacy

Since its arcade debut in 1987, Street Fighter has been a cornerstone of the fighting game genre, helping to define the competitive one-on-one format that countless games have followed. As of June 30, 2026, the series has sold over 60 million copies worldwide. The latest entry, Street Fighter 6, has also been a massive success, surpassing 7.2 million units globally and over 1 million in Japan alone. Its popularity has been further boosted by live-streaming communities, drawing in younger players in their teens and twenties.

Production Team

The film is produced by Legendary Pictures, known for bringing Japanese IPs like Godzilla and Detective Pikachu to the big screen. Capcom, the original creator of the franchise, is also involved. Paramount Pictures and Legendary Pictures will handle worldwide distribution.

Story

Set in 1993, the story follows Ryu and Ken, two former prodigy fighters who were once as close as brothers but have since grown apart. When the mysterious martial artist Chun-Li appears, they receive invitations to the World Warrior Tournament—a no-holds-barred, no-limits, no-mercy competition to determine the ultimate fighter. As the tournament progresses, it becomes clear that more is at stake than just the championship title, and a dark conspiracy begins to surface. The two must reunite to confront a nightmare they thought they had buried long ago.

Cast and Staff

The film is directed by Kitao Sakurai. Executive producers include J.J. Hook, Jay Ashenfelter, Tsujimoto Kenzo, and Tsujimoto Haruhiro. Producers are Mary Parent, Kyle Boyter, Jason Momoa, Nakayama Takayuki, and Stephan Mcool.

Release

Street Fighter / The Movie will be released worldwide on October 16, 2026. The film is distributed in Japan by Towa Pictures and Toho.
