Nexon’s upcoming RPG Mabinogi Mobile continues the world of the long-loved Mabinogi series, now reimagined as a completely new title planned for PC and mobile in 2026. Featuring deep character creation, costume dyeing, and cooperative dungeon exploration through a “chance encounter” system, the game lets players choose from a variety of professions, such as warrior, mage, or healer, to tailor the experience to their own play style.
But what if choosing your class felt more like a job interview? That’s exactly the situation one of our editors found themselves in during a late-night deadline crunch. After muttering about wanting to become a warrior, a mysterious ad appeared on their phone, offering “gamer-oriented career counseling” and promising to recommend a suitable profession—including warrior, mage, healer, and many more.
Curiosity got the better of them, and they booked an appointment with a so-called “gamer job agent.” At the interview, they were handed a “gamer career sheet” filled with deceptively easy questions, such as “Do you charge into a boss on first sight?” or “Do you look for gathering points in unknown areas?”
“I see—you love fighting on the front lines. Then why not try the Warrior in Mabinogi Mobile? Let’s give it a go!” the agent said, handing over a tablet that displayed the game itself.
The agent presented a total of 18 different professions across the game, starting from six initial classes: Warrior, Archer, Mage, Healer, Bard, and Thief. Each class can be upgraded to advanced versions, and best of all, you can switch classes at any time simply by changing your equipped weapon. That means all 18 classes are available to every player regardless of initial choice—a design that adds tremendous flexibility.
The first class they tried was the Apprentice Warrior. Equipped with skills like Rapid Slash, which closes the distance for quick consecutive attacks, and Blade Smash to sweep multiple enemies at once, the warrior feels like a natural frontline attacker. By using skills, players build up a target’s Break Gauge; once broken, enemies take extra attribute damage, leading to highly satisfying burst combat.
The Shield Rush skill adds a defensive layer, knocking enemies back while preventing your own break—perfect for protecting allies and holding the line.
“We also have other positions if you’re interested,” the agent said, showing listings for mage and thief. The thief’s advanced class, Dual Blade, caught the editor’s eye with its speedy, debuff-heavy skills. Spinning through packs with Spin Rush and following up with Double Crescent for bonus damage against broken enemies, the dual-wielding style offers a fast-paced, tactical approach.
Before the session could end, the editor insisted on trying the Mage as well. The class wields skills like Lightning (which chains to enemies and leaves a shock effect), the classic Fireball for massive area damage, Ice Dagger, Telekinesis, and Mana Storm to restore mana and speed up cooldowns. With flashy visuals and an emphasis on ability rotation, the mage is perfect for players who enjoy controlling crowds from afar.
But Mabinogi Mobile isn’t just about combat. Life skills—cooking, gathering, fishing, and housing—are presented as equally important parts of the adventure. Players can settle down in a cozy spot, craft items, and enjoy a slower pace. The familiar dyeing system from the original Mabinogi also returns, letting you color equipment using Dye Ampoules or Specified Dye Ampoules to achieve your preferred palette.
Another convenient feature is support for both portrait and landscape orientations on smartphones. Whether you’re diving into high-difficulty dungeons with friends in landscape mode, or just chatting and doing light activities in portrait, the game adapts to your lifestyle—a true “flex-hours MMORPG.”
After hours of trying out different classes, the agent finally made a decision: “You have earned a position as a Warrior. We look forward to your future success in Erinn!”
The editor’s journey ended back at the Warrior—a choice that felt like a childhood dream come true. The game is scheduled to launch in Japan in 2026. Pre-registration is now open on the official website for iOS, Android, and PC.
