Dandadan is an occult battle and youth story based on the manga by Ryoku Yukinobu, serialized in Shueisha’s “Shounen Jump+” app, boasting over 10 million copies in circulation. The story follows Ayase Momo, a high school girl born into a family of spiritual mediums, and her classmate, the occult enthusiast Takakura Ken, affectionately known as Okarun. Their lives take an extraordinary turn when they encounter overwhelming, bizarre phenomena beyond human comprehension. This leads them to awaken hidden powers and curses, which they must use to confront the encroaching oddities while also finding themselves intertwined in a fated romance.
The TV anime adaptation, which saw its first part air from October to December 2024, quickly garnered immense popularity. Wakayama Shion masterfully voices Momo, while Hanae Natsuki brings the quirky Okarun to life. For the second part, Yamashiro Fuuga takes the directorial helm alongside Abel Gongora, with animation production continuing under the renowned studio, Science SARU.
