Nageki no Bourei wa Intai Shitai, (which can be translated as “The Wailing Ghost Wants to Retire”) is an exhilarating isekai comedy fantasy series based on Tsukikage’s light novel, Nageki no Bourei wa Intai Shitai ~Saijaku Hunter ni Yoru Saikyou Party Ikusei Jutsu~ (The Wailing Ghost Wants to Retire ~The Strongest Party’s Training Method by the Weakest Hunter~), which boasts an impressive cumulative circulation of over 2.4 million copies. The first cour of the TV anime captivated audiences from October to December 2024, consistently ranking high across various streaming platforms.
The series is brought to life by director Takatama Masahiro, with animation production handled by Zero-G. The stellar cast features Ono Kenshou as the protagonist, Kurai Andorihhi, alongside talented voice actors such as Kubota Miyu, Fairouz Ai, Ohara Konomi, Sugita Tomokazu, Amasaki Kouhei, Koga Aoi, Daichi You, Sekine Akira, Maeda Seiji, Ootsuka Akio, Michii Haruka, and Amano Satomi.
The Epic Tale of Kurai Andorihhi
In a golden era of treasure hunters, Kurai Andorihhi once swore an oath with his childhood companions to become the world’s strongest heroes. Yet, among the six of them, Kurai alone seemed utterly devoid of talent. His companions, a group of monstrously talented individuals, formed the party known as `《Nageki no Bourei (Sutorenji Guriifu)》` (Wailing Ghost, or Strange Grief). Within a few years, their name echoed throughout the Imperial Capital, and Kurai, inadvertently placed at the helm, was swiftly elevated to the leader of this formidable party.
Due to the ever-increasing expectations from those around him, Kurai’s every word and action is constantly misunderstood, leading to unforeseen developments. The story beautifully portrays the triumphs and tribulations of Kurai Andorihhi, a revered hero known as both the leader of the strongest party and the most powerful clan master.
Episode 15 Synopsis: “Kounarya Dokoka ni Tabidachitai”
Following a recent auction where Kurai clashed with the Guradisu family over a treasure, an unexpected direct request arrives from them, specifically nominating Kurai. Though utterly unmotivated, Kurai finds himself compelled to accept the mission to avoid being forcibly removed from the Explorer’s Guild due to unfulfilled quotas.
Further complications arise with overtures from `《Majou (Hidun Kaasu)》` (Magic Staff, or Hidden Curse), a contentious encounter with `《Kiri no Rairyuu (Foorin Misuto)》` (Mist Thunder Dragon, or Falling Mist), and an invitation to the `Shiroken no Tsudoi` (White Sword Gathering).
Overwhelmed by this cascade of troubles, Kurai decides to escape it all by heading off on a much-needed vacation!
