About Natsume Yuujinchou
Natsume Yuujinchou is an enthralling tale of ayakashi contracts, based on the manga by Midorikawa Yuki, serialized in “Gekkan LaLa.” The story follows Natsume Takashi, a lonely young man burdened by the secret ability to see yokai. After inheriting the powerful “Yuujinchou” (Friends’ Book) from his grandmother Reiko, who also possessed immense spiritual power, Natsume finds himself pursued by a myriad of yokai. Accompanied by his self-proclaimed bodyguard, the mischievous Nyanko-sensei, Natsume spends his days navigating the complexities of the contracts his grandmother made with these supernatural beings.
The TV anime adaptation first aired its 1st season in 2008 and has since broadcast six seasons. The protagonist, Natsume Takashi, is voiced by Kamiya Hiroshi, and Nyanko-sensei is voiced by Inoue Kazuhiko. In September 2018, the series saw its first full-length original theatrical film. In January 2021, two fan-favorite short episodes were released in theaters for a limited engagement. Most recently, the highly anticipated 7th season, Natsume Yuujinchou Urushi, began airing on October 7, 2024.
