A Day for Writers: Celebrating “Pen Day” and Our Favorite Novelist Characters!
November 26th marks “Pen Day” in Japan! This special day commemorates the establishment of the Japan PEN Club on the same date in 1935. For those curious, the “PEN” in PEN Club is an acronym, with P representing poets and playwrights, E symbolizing essayists and editors, and N standing for novelists, truly encompassing the diverse world of literature.
The vibrant world of anime, manga, and games is brimming with characters who make their living through writing. These literary figures come in all forms, from bestselling authors with numerous smash hits, to mysterious masked writers whose true identities remain a secret, or even fresh newcomers just starting their careers. Their varied backgrounds and stories add rich depth to the narratives we love and characters we connect with.
Join Our Survey: Who is Your Favorite “Novelist” Character?
To celebrate the spirit of Pen Day and the incredible writers within our favorite stories, Anime!Anime! is excited to announce a new reader survey. We want to hear from you!
Our question is simple yet engaging: “Who is your favorite ‘Novelist’ character?” We invite you to share your thoughts in a free-response format and tell us which character comes to mind first!

*Please note: This survey is open to characters appearing in 2D content, including anime (TV broadcasts, movies, streaming, OVAs, etc.), games, CD series, and manga.
*Each person is kindly asked to submit one response only.
Basic information such as gender and age are optional, and you are welcome to participate without providing them. We encourage everyone to join in and share their favorite novelist characters!
The deadline for responses is November 12th. We will publish the survey results as soon as they are compiled, so please look forward to discovering who tops the list!
