“Meitantei Konan” “Kaitou Kiddo Style” Tuxedo Look Revealed! Matsumaru Ryougo Appears in “Zekushii” August Issue

Matumaru Ryougo Channels His Inner Kaitou Kid for Zexy Magazine!

Matumaru Ryougo, the popular “puzzle creator” who is active in a wide range of fields, is set to appear in the August issue of the marriage information magazine “Zexy,” which goes on sale on June 23, 2025. Fulfilling his personal wish, he will be featured wearing a tuxedo inspired by Kaitou Kid from Meitantei Conan.

“I’ve always wanted to get married, and just as I was starting to think ‘Maybe it’s time,’ I received an offer from ‘Zexy.’ I felt like it was fate,” shared Matumaru-san. While this is his first time wearing a tuxedo in his life, for the photoshoot, he took on the challenge of portraying a Kaitou Kid-style groom, a character he himself loves from Meitantei Conan.

Approaching the shoot with enthusiasm, thinking “Maybe this is a chance to practice for the big day,” he managed to lose 2kg over two months by hitting the gym and running despite his busy schedule. Furthermore, he revealed the seriousness of his preparation, stating, “Since I received permission from Shougakukan-san this time, I felt strongly that ‘I really need to study.’ I rewatched the anime, researching the details like the angle of the glasses and specific poses.”

Upon trying on the all-white tuxedo and donning accessories like the monocle and top hat, he was very satisfied, exclaiming, “I was surprised myself how well it suited me!” He continued, “The moment I put on the jacket, my excitement levels were through the roof. It was incredibly fun, like a dream. My only worry is if my relatives will tease me about it (laughs).”

Matumaru-san’s Views on Love and Relationships

Matumaru-san is widely known for his intellectual image. True to this, he admitted that “in the past, I was too theoretical, and my approach to romance was like an AI.” However, through interacting with various people and gaining experience, he says he now “allows my own ego to come out when it comes to love.” He reflected, “Originally, I was the type who could easily compartmentalize things, thinking the time spent worrying was a waste. But while that ability to compartmentalize is a good thing, it’s also a negative in that I wouldn’t reflect on things. If there’s no better or worse option, I decided it would be better to become someone who can empathize with others’ feelings.”

He also shared that his experience with puzzle-solving has been useful in relationships. “Even when things reach a deadlock or grow cold between people, sometimes a single flash of inspiration or idea can open things up. I think it’s important to enjoy facing challenges by changing your perspective, using ‘gyakuten no hassou’ [reverse thinking],” he commented, offering a very Matumaru-like perspective.

Finding the Ideal Partner

When it comes to his ideal partner, Matumaru-san looks for someone who doesn’t dismiss his hobbies. He explained with a smile, “If someone dismisses my ‘likes,’ like puzzle-solving or Pokemon, a shutter immediately closes in my heart. Conversely, if they ask ‘Can you teach me?’ I become incredibly happy.” He also values building a relationship carefully, listing qualities like “someone who doesn’t do things to others that they dislike themselves” and “someone who can discuss things without getting emotional.”

Additionally, he emphasized that someone who “likes children” and “is cheerful and can laugh together” are important conditions. He revealed an unexpected side of himself, prioritizing emotion and feeling over logic and ideals.

A Puzzle-Filled Proposal and Escape-Style Wedding?

When asked about his ideal proposal and wedding, the “puzzle creator” Matumaru-san gave unique and romantic answers. Stating his love for “fukusen kaisyuu” (foreshadowing payoff), he envisions a proposal structured to trace memories from the relationship in a single day, saying, “I want to start the morning with the first meal we ate together, visit the place where we took a memorable photo in the afternoon… following the memories since we started dating.” He added shyly, “I want to propose around the time my partner realizes ‘Everything is connected!'”

He also declared that his wedding would definitely not end with just being celebrated. “I absolutely want my wedding to be an event everyone can enjoy. I want people to say, ‘Matumaru-kun’s wedding was the most interesting one ever!’ For example, an ‘escape-style wedding’ where the bride suddenly disappears, or problems keep occurring one after another, might be fun,” he mused, his playful ideas flowing non-stop.
