Celebrate Black Day: Who’s Your Favorite “Black-Themed” Character?
September 6th marks “Kuro no Hi” (Black Day) in Japan. This commemorative day was established by the Kyoto Sumizome Kogyo Kyodo Kumiai (Kyoto Black Dyeing Industry Cooperative) through a clever wordplay on the numbers 9 (ku) and 6 (ro), aiming to promote traditional black formal wear like kuromonpuku and kurotomesode.
In the vibrant worlds of anime and games, countless characters are associated with the color black. Their connection to black can manifest in a variety of ways, making them visually striking and memorable. Perhaps they possess distinctive black hair or captivating black eyes, or their entire wardrobe is coordinated in sleek, sophisticated black. Some characters even have “kuro,” “black,” or “dark” intrinsically woven into their names or nicknames, further solidifying their dark aesthetic.
