The recently released main PV gives us a glimpse into Sam’s life, showing her at a critical crossroads. Her game, “RUMINATE,” receives a scathing review from popular streamer Marshall Law, leaving her future as a game creator uncertain. However, fate takes a dramatic turn when Marshall unexpectedly moves into the apartment next door! This serendipitous encounter sets off a chain of events that also impacts her kind childhood friend, Link Hudson, and her strict, mysterious boss, Charles Jones. Get ready for a story filled with unexpected twists and heartfelt moments as Sam’s relationships evolve.

A Stylish New Main Visual

The new main visual, exquisitely drawn by the original character designer, ebimo, is truly a sight to behold. It features Sam, Marshall, Link, and Charles, all impeccably dressed in formal attire—a stylish departure from their usual looks in the main story. This visual perfectly captures the sophisticated yet inviting vibe of the series.

Kubota Toshinobu and Night Tempo Bring the Beat!

Music lovers, rejoice! The legendary Kubota Toshinobu is taking the helm for both the opening and ending theme songs. He has specially penned “1, 2, Play” for the opening and “Left & Right” for the ending. This marks his return to anime theme songs after a 30-year hiatus, with his last being for the 1995 anime *H2*.

Adding to the musical excitement, Korean producer and DJ Night Tempo is responsible for the main theme of the in-game world “RUMINATE.” His unique sound is sure to immerse viewers in Sam’s gaming universe.

Expanded Cast: New Faces Join Sam’s Journey!

The roster of talented voice actors has expanded with several exciting additions! Sam’s close companions and fellow guild members, Angela O’Neill and Vicky Song, will be voiced by Sakura Ayane and Hikasa Youko, respectively. Link Hudson’s younger brother, Dallas Hudson, who is also in Sam’s guild, will be played by Watanabe Hiroshi. Other guild members, Abe Calhoun, Olivia Sweet, and Edgar, are voiced by Tsujii Kengo, Kurisaka Minami, and Matsuda Kenichirou.

Further enriching the ensemble, Sonozaki Mie plays Monica Mackenzie, Marshall’s girlfriend and a beauty blogger. Dee Parker, the owner of Sam’s favorite coffee shop and her college roommate, is voiced by Saiga Mitsuki. Lucy Light, the receptionist at Sam’s company, is brought to life by Morohoshi Sumire, while Sam’s colleague Umed Patel is voiced by Hatanaka Tasuku. Finally, Samuel A. Young, the president of Sam’s company and her father, is voiced by Miyake Kenta, who also lends his voice to Sam’s beloved dog, Bowser!

Comments from the Talented Crew

Hear what Night Tempo and the newly announced voice actors have to say about their roles and the upcoming anime!

Game Main Theme “RUMINATE”: Night Tempo

Q. Could you tell us about the song “RUMINATE” you produced?
This time, my goal was to create a retro game BGM. I used melodies and synths that evoke a nostalgic fantasy world, so I think listeners will immediately recognize it.

Q. Do you have a message for the fans?
It was my first time creating an in-anime theme song, which was a very fresh experience. I originally love animation, so I felt lucky just to be able to participate in a project like this. I would be delighted if this becomes a work loved by many people.

Angela O’Neill VA: Sakura Ayane

Q1. Please tell us about the character you play, including any similarities.
Angela is a strong and cool character whom I admire so much that it feels presumptuous to even say I’m similar to her. She’s incredibly fashionable for herself, deeply compassionate, and would do anything for friendship. I aspire to be a woman like Angela every day.

Q2. Message to the fans.
This work features unique characters who teach us important things within a comedic setting. I’m really looking forward to seeing how the world of the story expands in the animated version when it airs!

Vicky Song VA: Hikasa Youko

Q1.
I think I’m similar in how when I like someone, it honestly shows in my actions and expressions. Vicky cares for Sam deeply, she loves her. She smiles when she sees Sam, and wants to support her when she sees Sam working hard. She isn’t swayed by emotions, but she might have realized that having positive feelings like love is the correct path in life.

Q2.
Sam’s life will change through her choices and what she thinks and does when facing her company, family, and the creative process of making games. The image of a person you have in your mind can sometimes be a misconception, and reality can change with just a little courage. This bustling comedy is packed with many hints and messages. I hope this work adds color to the lives of those who work! Please look forward to it!

Monica Mackenzie VA: Sonozaki Mie

Q1.
Monica is beautiful and seemingly perfect in every way. I don’t find many similarities with myself, but her words, often stemming from her experiences, frequently make me think “Ah, that’s certainly true…” I feel like I learn more from her than I empathize. She appears strong but occasionally reveals weakness and cuteness, and I hope to express a certain ideal image through her.

Q2.
Since the story is set in Los Angeles, many familiar elements from overseas dramas are depicted. If you’re accustomed to foreign dramas, you’ll surely spot some “oh, that’s it” items. All the characters are incredibly charming, but they find themselves in situations that are never just someone else’s problem. Who will you focus on? Please look forward to this romantic drama about a clumsy heroine’s work life and love!

Dallas Hudson VA: Watanabe Hiroshi

Q1.
There are almost no similarities… (laughs)
Despite being surrounded by adults regardless of age or gender, Dallas has a strong sense of self. I find such a Dallas both cool and wonderful. And his thoughtfulness towards his older brother and friends is the best!

Q2.
Work, romance, games—these are all close to us, making us think, worry, and struggle, but these are necessary in the game of life. I would be happy if you could enjoy and find this work interesting through that lens.

Abe Calhoun VA: Tsujii Kengo

Q1.
He strives towards a goal, elevating each other with his companions, enjoying themselves, and moving forward. Seeing him reminds me of my time as a club captain in high school. There’s a certain kind of passion, or heart, I suppose. That’s where I can empathize, and he’s a wonderful character who brought back those memories.

Q2.
I believe this is a work that a wide range of generations can enjoy. I would also be happy if I could be of some help in that. Thank you very much.

Olivia Sweet VA: Kurisaka Minami

Q1.
Olivia strikes me as a wonderful girl who possesses both cuteness and strength, and there aren’t many similarities with me. However, I hope to enjoy exploring how to fully embody her charm while acting!

Q2.
This is a very enjoyable work that includes familiar topics like work and romance, making you empathize and feel warm fuzzies. I will do my best to deliver the charm of the work so that everyone who watches can enjoy it!

Edgar VA: Matsuda Kenichirou

Q1.
Edgar is a very reliable man. He is observant of those around him and is like a knight who offers subtle consideration. I don’t think he and I have much in common, but there are many aspects of him I’d like to emulate.

Q2.
Since the original is a popular web comic in North America, I think this is a work that can be enjoyed in a slightly different way from Japanese romantic comedies. There might be parts where you can’t help but empathize with the life-sized characters. Everyone, please enjoy it.

Lucy Light VA: Morohoshi Sumire

Q1.
Lucy is expressive with her emotions, shows consideration to be useful to her beloved Sam, and actively makes her feelings known to those she’s interested in, giving her a cute and approachable aura. The way her excitement builds when talking about romance is something I find similar to myself.

Q2.
This is a work that carefully depicts the subtle nuances of emotions. Sam’s journey forward will make you empathize, feel melancholic, and give you heart flutters—it’s packed with the charm of an “adult love story.” I would be delighted if many people could enjoy it. Thank you.

Umed Patel VA: Hatanaka Tasuku

Q1.
It’s a role I don’t often play, but his slight shyness and how he opens up when talking about things he likes, I feel a strong sense of closeness to that.

Q2.
I’ve only just begun, but the atmosphere during the voice recording was wonderful. I hope this wonderfulness can reach everyone as is! Please watch it!

Dee Parker VA: Saiga Mitsuki

Q1.
Similarities… points of empathy… if I had to say, maybe my voice…!
Dee runs a cafe, so I think she’s someone who pays close attention to her surroundings, and I find her reliable demeanor wonderful. She’s completely different from me!

Q2.
This anime feels like watching a live-action foreign film. I think many people will empathize with Sam as she moves forward despite much confusion. I hope you’ll watch and let your heart be moved along with Sam!

Samuel A. Young VA: Miyake Kenta

Q1.
He’s a very overprotective father who deeply loves the protagonist, Sam. His clumsy and exaggerated expressions of affection, and his very emotional nature, are quite similar to myself.

Q2.
Life is truly full of quests. How will Sam overcome the many quests? Please look forward to it!
