Which are the Dance ED Anime? 3rd: Meitantei Konan ‘Fun! Fun! Fun!’, 2nd: Kekkai Sensen ‘Shugaa Song to Bitter Step’, and 1st is… with comments calling it ‘The Origin and Pinnacle’ <2025 Edition>

September 26th marks “Idol Copy Dance Day.” This special day commemorates the first “UNIDOL” idol copy dance event, which was held on this date in 2012.

In the world of anime, dance is a crucial element that brings productions to life. Especially in the opening (OP) and ending (ED) sequences, which serve as the face of a series, we often see a wide variety of dance-infused performances. Even among the Summer 2025 anime, titles like Dandadan, Osomatsu-san, and Food Court de, Mata Ashita. are airing with particularly impressive dance OPs and EDs.

In light of this, Anime! Anime! conducted a reader survey titled “When you think of ‘Dance-Style OP/ED Anime’?” We received 110 responses during the survey period from September 14th to September 19th. The gender ratio was almost even, with approximately 45 percent male and 55 percent female. As for age, younger demographics were prominent, with roughly 40 percent being 19 years old or younger and about 20 percent in their 20s. In this article, we’re excited to announce the results for the ED anime category.

■From Legendary Masterpieces to Currently Airing Titles!

The top spot, with approximately 16 percent of the votes, goes to Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu‘s “Hare Hare Yukai”.

Released in 2006, this iconic song was performed by the main cast members: Suzumiya Haruhi (CV: Hirano Aya), Nagato Yuki (CV: Chihara Minori), and Asahina Mikuru (CV: Gotou Yuuko). Many readers commented on its immense popularity and influence, with remarks like, “I can still dance the choreography I learned back then! Any Haruhi fan would immediately think of this song,” and “It’s the origin and pinnacle of dance-style OP/EDs. It’s no wonder the term ‘Haruhi Dance’ was coined; I feel like dancing OPs and EDs increased after this.” Several readers even mentioned performing the dance at school festivals or sports days, emphasizing that for many, “this ED is synonymous with anime dance.”

Coming in second, with about 13 percent of the votes, is “Sugar Song to Bitter Step” from Kekkai Sensen.

This catchy track, released by UNISON SQUARE GARDEN in 2015, drew enthusiastic praise. Fans shared comments such as, “The song is so cheerful, and the characters dancing just look like they’re having an absolute blast. It’s truly a grand finale of an ED anime!” and “It’s just so stylish. While dance anime usually impress with perfectly synchronized choreography, Kekkai Sensen features characters dancing freely, overflowing with pure joy,” and “It’s a legendary ED anime that spawned countless parodies!” These comments clearly show how much this ending energizes viewers.

Taking third place, with roughly 7 percent of the votes, is “Fun! Fun! Fun!” from Meitantei Konan.

This track by Niihama Leon has been serving as the ED theme since April 2025. Its overwhelmingly cute dance has become a hot topic, with fans exclaiming, “Seeing everyone from the Shounen Tantei-dan dancing together makes my heart melt!” and “It’s refreshing to see not just Konan but even Ai-chan dancing. The choreography is so simple, I might even be able to dance along myself (lol).”

Interestingly, Niihama Leon’s “Tsukamaete, Konya.” was also used as the OP theme for the 2022 spin-off, Meitantei Konan Hannin no Hanzawa-san. In that opening, Hanzawa-san himself dances, indicating that Niihama Leon seems to have a special connection with dance-style OP/ED anime.

■Other Comments!

For Tougen Anki‘s BAND-MAID “What is justice?”, one reader said, “I was so surprised by how skilled everyone was at dancing! You can really feel the joy of the dance, and the song title perfectly fits the Tougen Anki world. I absolutely love it.”

Regarding Kuroshitsuji -Midori no Majo-hen-‘s Ryuuguujou “WALTZ”, a fan commented, “The artistic quality of the song and animation was so captivating, I couldn’t help but be mesmerized. Ciel-kun dancing was a sight to behold.”

For Youkai Watch‘s Dream5 “Youkai Taisou Daiichi”, a reader shared, “I remember Youkai Watch becoming a social phenomenon and seeing children everywhere dancing along. There are so many different versions, I think everyone has seen it at least once.”

Votes also came in for Kimi to Idol PreCure♪‘s “Kimi to Rurara,” a title with a movie currently in theaters. A fan mentioned, “Dance in the PreCure EDs is a tradition! This year, with idols as the motif, they performed on stage. It’s truly ‘singing, dancing, and fan service’!”
