Shuumatsu Touring Episode 3: An Unexpected Journey Through Post-Apocalyptic Tokyo, Featuring Classic Anime Songs and a Surprise DJ!
The TV anime *Shuumatsu Touring* (which can be translated as *End-of-the-World Touring*) aired its third episode, “Setagaya, Shinbashi, Ariake, Tokyo Big Sight,” on October 18, 2025, at 23:30. This installment followed Youko and Airi’s journey as they headed towards “a place with all sorts of bikes from around the world.”
About *Shuumatsu Touring*
*Shuumatsu Touring* is an unconventional touring manga serialized in *Dengeki Maoh* magazine by Saitoo Sakae. It tells the story of two young girls and their trusty Serow off-road motorcycle as they traverse a ruined Japan. Youko and Airi capture memories by taking photos at famous landmarks, camp in natural settings within deserted cities, and explore a desolate, end-of-the-world landscape. Riding tandem on their Serow, the duo enjoys an unprecedented sense of freedom, unhindered by traffic jams or red lights, embarking on an extraordinary touring adventure.
The animation production is handled by Nexus. The traveling girls are brought to life by Inagaki Konomi as Youko and Tomita Miyu as Airi.

Episode 3 Highlights: Tokyo’s Desolate Landmarks
In Episode 3, Youko and Airi continue their journey from Yokosuka towards Tokyo. They search empty houses in residential areas for supplies but keep coming up empty-handed. Their luck changes when they stumble upon a treasure trove in one particular house, filled with canned goods, retort pouches, and instant noodles!
Even though the gas is cut off, making it a challenge to boil water, they manage to fill their stomachs and decide to spend the night there. Before going to sleep, Youko confides in Airi, “There’s somewhere I want to go tomorrow.” She recalls her older sister telling her about “a place with all sorts of bikes from around the world.” Airi surprisingly knows exactly where it is. “We can get there. We’ll take the Yurikamome…” she says, before drifting off to sleep.

The next day, the two cruise their beloved Serow along the Yurikamome line. The Yurikamome, officially known as the Tokyo Waterfront New Transit Waterfront Line, is a “New Transit System” that connects Shinbashi to Toyosu over a 14.7 km route.
The appearance of the Yurikamome in the post-apocalyptic world brought immense joy to online viewers, who eagerly commented: “The Yurikamome in the *Shuumatsu Touring* world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”, “The Yurikamome in the *Shuumatsu Touring* world… it’s still the Yurikamome!!!!!!!!!!”, and “I’m so happy the Yurikamome in the *Shuumatsu Touring* world remained as the Yurikamome……”
Youko and Airi continue along the Yurikamome line, which, in its heyday, was operated by rubber tires and automated driving. “Comfortable, comfortable!” Youko exclaims, clearly in high spirits as they ride on the track without railroad ties. The two sing “Tetsudou Shouka” (Railway Song) as they proceed, starting with the iconic line, “A whistle blast from Shinbashi Station~♪”

Finally, they arrive at the Tokyo Big Sight, the place Youko’s sister had told her about. “It really is an inverted triangle!” Youko says delightedly. The internet, too, was buzzing with excitement: “The otaku holy land, we’re here! (≧∇≦)b”, “Big Sight!?”, “Comiket’s venue”, “It’s the otaku holy land lol”.
The original author, Saitoo Sakae, even posted on their X (formerly Twitter) account with a clapping emoji, exclaiming, “The post-apocalyptic Tokyo Big Sight seen in this artwork!”

Youko, excitedly proclaiming, “There are so many different bikes here! I’m really looking forward to it!”, leads Airi inside the building, but alas, there are no bikes. Airi, looking at a photo Youko’s sister had taken, explains, “This was the 65th Tokyo Motorbike Show. It was a motorbike festival held here once a year.” She clarifies to Youko, “This exhibition hall wasn’t just for bikes; it was used for all sorts of events year-round.”
While they didn’t find any bikes, Youko and Airi do discover a “remnant” of a past event. Picking up a dust-covered pamphlet, Youko muses, “It’s manga, isn’t it? ‘Thin books’…” The internet was momentarily flustered by the Tokyo Big Sight of this ruined world: “Did she just say ‘thin books’!?”, “Oh, so it was during a doujinshi convention?”, “Did the final war happen during Comiket…?”, “They were holding it right up until the world ended…?” It’s said that the manga depicted in the episode was created with cooperation from the original author themselves.
The original author Saitoo Sakae also shared their thoughts on this on X.
After leaving Tokyo Big Sight, the duo decides, “Since we came all the way to the sea,” to change into swimsuits and enjoy their first-ever beach day. However, just after Airi whispers, “Something’s there…”, unexpected creatures appear. Viewers were startled by the flock of penguins that emerged: “It’s penguins!!”, “Why are there penguins in Tokyo…?”, “Penguins that shouldn’t be in the Northern Hemisphere!?” One can only wonder if they escaped from an aquarium…

As evening falls, Airi murmurs, “Again, I hear sounds, music…” She opens a radio app, picks up a signal, and receives music! Viewers immediately recognized the tune: “I’ve heard that song somewhere…”, “A worldline where LiSA exists!”, “It’s ‘crossing field’!”, “Is that ‘crossing field’!?”, “It’s the early OP for SAO!” Indeed, it was “crossing field,” the opening theme song for the TV anime *Sword Art Online*, performed by LiSA. Then, the DJ’s voice prompted another wave of reactions online.

“Matsuoka Yoshitsugu…?!?!”, “From LiSA to Matsuoka-kun”, “Matsuoka-kun after the song lol”, “Kirito-san as a radio DJ!”, “It’s Kirito, lol”, “It’s SAO! And the DJ is Kirito lol”
The DJ, who introduced himself as Akiba Jiro, was voiced by Matsuoka Yoshitsugu, who also plays Kirito, the protagonist of *Sword Art Online*. His high-energy voice certainly got the internet hyped!
After the broadcast, Inagaki Konomi, who plays Youko, posted: “A swimsuit episode, and such an unexpected ending! Is this even allowed?! Please look forward to the next episode!”

Myuk, who performs the ending theme “Glide,” also shared a comment: “Airi and Youko exploring Yurikamome, Rainbow Bridge, and various famous spots was so healing. And for the Episode 3 version of ‘Glide’s’ ending animation, Tokyo Big Sight made an appearance. Tonight’s visuals were wonderful too…”
Myuk also posted about the episode on X.
In this desolate world, could there be other people alive out there?! See you next time!
