Dive into the Classic Dungeon with a Feline Twist!
Drecom is currently running a fun collaboration project called Wizardry Shigoto Neko Nippou (Wizardry Work Cat Daily Report). It teams up the legendary 3D dungeon RPG Wizardry—a series for which Drecom holds the trademark and copyrights for some titles—with the workplace accident comedy series Shigoto Neko by Kumamine-shi. This project features short videos and illustrations where the work cats experience classic “Wizardry tropes,” and you can follow it all on their official X account.
Celebrating its 45th anniversary in 2026, Wizardry is one of those early RPG masterpieces originally made in the US. It captivated core gamers and famous creators of the time with its PC version, but it was the Famicom version—a Japan-exclusive arranged port—that really cemented its massive popularity in Japan. Since the 80s, it has become a crucial foundation for domestic fantasy, with an influence that’s simply immeasurable.
The series spawned numerous sequels and, especially in Japan, several spin-offs. The current title, Wizardry Variants Daphne, continues to enjoy great popularity.

Now, these Wizardry tropes have been passed down for 45 years. In this collaboration, they’re being introduced with illustrations by Kumamine-shi, each episode冠ed with the name of a classic Wizardry character class. At the time of writing, about two have been released.
Even modern gamers might recognize some of these elements. Let’s take a look at each scenario, with detailed explanations kindly provided by Drecom.
That Carelessness is Fatal! Warrior Edition: “Teleport, All Good!”
“Double-check? Ah, it’ll probably be fine!”

Teleport to your destination in a flash!
“Mage-chan, the usual spell, please!”
“Coordinate check? A rough one is fine.”
“It’ll work! It’ll work! It’s totally fine!”
…After a brief flash of light, everything goes pitch black.
It seems the coordinates were off.
stuck in the wall
[Explanation: Stuck in the Wall]
The Teleport spell is convenient, but if you mess up the coordinate input, your character can end up fused inside a wall or rock.
This state is famously known as “stuck in the wall“.
In the world of Wizardry, a single moment of carelessness can be fatal! It’s not just about taking damage; a single mistake can lead to a Total Party Kill (effectively a forced deletion of your save data where characters and gear are lost forever, with no way to recover). So, be warned!
A Quick Tip:
Depending on the specific title, having an emergency escape method like a certain spell on hand might let you bail out before the game registers a full wipe….
Exhausted in the Labyrinth!? Priest Edition: “Inn Cost Zero! Spells All Good?”
A magical balancing act? Forget the routine, and it’s a disaster!!

Exhausted from exploring the Labyrinth!
You want to recover HP, but you’re broke…
“The stables are good enough if I can just sleep!”
“I’ll just cast healing spells in the morning.”
~The Next Day~
Your companion is in a pinch!
Hold on, I’ll cast a healing spell now…
Oh.
“I’m all out of spell casts.”
[Explanation: The Stables and Healing Spells]
The stables, where you can rest for free or nearly free, are a sanctuary for saving on lodging costs, but they only restore your Spell Points (the number of times you can cast spells).
The routine is: “Stay the night, heal your HP with spells the next morning, then stay one more time at the end.”
If you mix up or forget this order, you risk returning to the dungeon in a dangerous state—either with fewer spell casts available or, worse, with your HP still depleted.
The mundane mistakes hidden within familiar routines are exactly what can trigger a total party kill.
A Quick Tip:
Again, this depends on the title, but in cases like the one in the video where HP is draining from poison damage outside of combat, it might be possible to recover from the failure without losing anyone…
You can use Party Separation. Leave only the poisoned character behind, have the remaining members struggle back to town to regroup, then return to reunite with the poisoned character. Just be prepared for plenty of danger (and risk) while shuttling back and forth with a reduced party.
The adventure log continues, with casualties piling up as usual. More episodes featuring the work cats lost in the Labyrinth will be released on the Wizardry Series Official X Account.
Will the day ever come when the work cats survive the dungeon unscathed…? Stay safe out there!

By the way, several current Wizardry titles let you experience these tropes firsthand. One of them is the Steam/Nintendo Switch title Wizardry Gaiden: Itsutsu no Shiren (which can be translated as Wizardry Side Story: The Five Ordeals), published by Game*Spark.
It champions a simple & hardcore philosophy, aiming to embody the memetic spirit of Wizardry as passed down through the ages. It offers a straightforward, nail-biting adventure packed with the classic tropes. If the “Wizardry tropes” featured in the “Wizardry Shigoto Neko Nippou” have piqued your curiosity, this is a great place to start.
