Kawasaki Hiroyuki, ‘Tsubasa Chronicle’ and ‘Mugen no Juunin’ Scriptwriter, Dies at 60

Kawasaki Hiroyuki, ‘Tsubasa Chronicle’ and ‘Mugen no Juunin’ Scriptwriter, Dies at 60

Scriptwriter Koyama Takao announced on his X account on Thursday that fellow scriptwriter Kawasaki Hiroyuki died on January 23. He was 60.

Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in November 1965, Kawasaki studied scriptwriting under screenwriters Oshikawa Kuniaki and Koyama Takao at the Tokyo Academy of Visual Arts’ special effects department. He began his career writing the final episode of the television anime Doteraman, and first took on series composition for the original video anime Earthian.

He gained recognition starting in 1993 for his work on Musekinin Kanchou Tylor (The Irresponsible Captain Tylor) and later wrote the entire script for Kidou Shinseiki Gundam X (After War Gundam X) in 1996.

Kawasaki’s notable scriptwriting and series composition credits also include Tsubasa Chronicle (Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE), Shinrei Tantei Yakumo (Psychic Detective Yakumo), Mugen no Juunin (Blade of the Immortal), and Hyouge Mono.
