Get Ready to Hajike Again! Brand New Bobobo Stage Play Announced

Mark your calendars, hair-hunting heroes and nonsense enthusiasts! A brand new stage production based on the legendary manga Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo is set to blow the roof off. Titled Cho Hajike Stage☆Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo ~Innen! Hanage! Kessen!~, this completely original stage play will run at Tokyo’s Theatre G Rosso starting June 12, 2026. Fresh details have just dropped, including new cast additions and performance info. Plus, fans heading to Jump Festa 2026 this December will get a special treat: a display of the costumes from the previous stage hit!

The Legend of the Nose Hair Fist

For the uninitiated, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo is the legendary absurd gag battle manga by Sakai Keio that serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2001 to 2007. It follows the utterly bizarre adventures of Bo-bobo, a master of the “Nose Hair Fist” (Hanage Shinken), who fights to protect humanity’s freedom and peace—specifically the freedom of their hair—against the tyrannical Maruhage Empire and their forced “hair hunting.” With over 7 million copies sold across 28 volumes, it’s a certified classic that spawned an anime from 2003 to 2005, video games, and more. The series celebrated its 20th anniversary of the original serialization in 2021 and the anime’s 20th in 2023.

The Stage Saga Continues with More Power

This new production follows the wildly successful first stage play, Cho Hajike Stage☆Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo (often called Boboste), which took the stage by storm in October 2024. That show famously raced through 21 volumes of the manga in about two hours, becoming a massive talking point. Now, a year later, Boboste is back with a vengeance for a full-fledged, brand-new story!

Returning to weave the chaotic script and direction is Kawajiri Keita (SUGARBOY), the creative mind behind stage adaptations like Mob Psycho 100 and Hataraku Saibou. With his unique sensibilities, he’s once again tasked with bringing the utterly unhinged world of Bo-bobo to life on stage.
