Live-Action Movie Announced for Wondance Manga

Exciting news for fans! The popular performing arts manga Wondance (also known as Wandance) by Coffee is officially getting a live-action movie adaptation. The announcement came directly from the wraparound band on the just-released 15th volume of the manga.

About the Wondance Manga

Author Coffee first launched Wondance in Afternoon magazine back in January 2019. Published by Kodansha, the series has been going strong with 14 volumes already out, and the 15th volume just hit shelves. To celebrate this milestone, a special music video collaboration was released, featuring the TV anime’s ending theme “Wondrous” by the dance and vocal group ELSEE. The manga’s popularity is undeniable, with a cumulative 1.1 million copies of its volumes in circulation.

The Anime Adaptation

Before the live-action news, Wondance was brought to life in a television anime series. The anime was a collaboration between the renowned studios Madhouse and Cyclone Graphics. It aired for 12 episodes during the Fall 2025 season, reaching a global audience through Disney+ streaming. In the United States, it was also available on Hulu, which later released an English dub for international fans.

Story Synopsis

Kotani Kaboku, nicknamed “Kabo,” enters Ichiran High School hoping to blend into the background because of his stuttering. While his friends join the basketball club, his eyes are on the dance club. However, an embarrassing memory from middle school has made him afraid to dance in front of anyone again.

Everything changes when he sees his cute classmate, Wanda Hikari, dancing. As they get to know each other, Wanda confesses that she isn’t great with words either and prefers to express herself through performance. This sparks something in Kabo, and he decides to face his past and join the dance club. With Wanda and his new clubmates by his side, Kabo embarks on a journey to improve his dancing, express himself freely, and create unforgettable memories, one step at a time.
