The second episode of the TV anime ‘Meitantei Precure!’, titled “A Genius Appears! His Name is Jet-senpai!”, aired on Sunday, February 8th, 2026. With the debut of the highly anticipated character Jet-senpai (CV: Kaji Yuuki), social media was flooded with voices of joy from excited fans.

‘Meitantei Precure!’ is the 23rd installment in the Precure series. The story follows Akechi Anna, a 14-year-old second-year middle school student living in Makoto Mirai Town, who is guided by a mysterious power and time-slips from the present day back to the year 1999. There, she meets Kobayakawa Mikuru, a girl her own age who dreams of becoming a great detective. To help people who have had their precious things stolen, the two transform into the “Detective Precure” and face off against the “Phantom Thief Gang Phantom” that causes the incidents.

In order to find a clue to return to her own time, Anna and Mikuru head to the “Cure-at Detective Agency”, said to be home to a Precure senior. Waiting for them there was the self-proclaimed genius doctor and master of the agency, Jet. The appearance of Jet-senpai, who had been trending for his “cuteness” even before the broadcast, caused SNS to erupt with comments like “He’s here!” and “Jet-senpaaai~!”.

Furthermore, since Kaji Yuuki, the voice of Jet, also voices Tegasword in the Super Sentai Series’ 49th entry, ‘Number One Sentai Gojukyujaa’, which had its final episode on the same day, some fans left comments like, “Is that you, Tegasword-sama?” and “Lord Tegasword, to think you’ve become so small…”.

A theory emerged that either the writer Kurusu Eriza (CV: Akechi Riko), who had lost her pen, or her employee Hoba Kurea (CV: Hasegawa Ikumi), might be the still-unrevealed “Cure Éclair”.

Then came the moment that sparked the biggest reaction of Episode 2. It became clear that the old woman Eriza was talking about was actually a member of the Phantom Thief Gang. When Anna and Mikuru tried to reclaim the pen, the old woman escaped at super speed. Her appearance led to a flood of comments like “Turbo Granny www”, causing the unexpected trend of “Turbo Granny” to hit the trending topics during the Precure broadcast.

The two lose sight of the fleeing granny, only to then discover a high school girl making a phone call despite the ongoing communication blackout. When Nijii (CV: Matsuoka Yoshitsugu), a member of the Phantom Thief Gang who also appeared in Episode 1, showed up, fans reacted with quips like, “There he is, Matsuoka-kun!”, “Matsuoka-kun cross-dressing again?”, and “I wonder if he has a thing for cross-dressing.”

After defeating the Hanniender and safely returning the stolen pen to Eriza, the two finally get Jet-senpai to acknowledge them as Precure, bringing Episode 2 to a close.

Filled with many things symbolizing the Heisei era, like old-school mobile phones and gyaru fashion, Episode 2 had fans feeling nostalgic. The preview for Episode 3, “Everyone, Come Along! The Cure-at Detective Agency!”—which showed a glimpse of a “gyaru on the phantom thieves’ side”—is scheduled to air on Sunday, February 15th.
