About Oshi no Ko

Oshi no Ko is a manga series originally serialized in Weekly Young Jump, with a story by Aka Akasaka and art by Mengo Yokoyari. Episode 29 Recap & Fan Reactions

In the previous episode, Akane uncovered the connection between Ai’s death and Kamiki Hikaru. When it was suggested that Himekawa Daiki (CV: Kouki Uchiyama), Aqua’s half-brother, could be a child Kamiki fathered at age 11, comments like “That’s brutal…” and “This is scary…” flooded social media.

Meanwhile, the one harboring complex feelings was Arisu Kana. Her depressed state, thinking “Aqua hates me” and “I’m just Ruby’s add-on,” led to a slew of concerned voices: “It hurts to see her so cornered,” “Please let Baking Soda-chan get her due reward…”

Later, Kana is invited by her senior actress, Azamimako (CV: Haruka Shiraishi), to a drinking party where she meets the up-and-coming film director “Shimakan,” real name Shimanori (CV: Seiichirou Yamashita). While Kana is happy to touch the world of acting again after so long, fans expressed worry: “Is this okay…?”, “Underage drinking?”, “Regardless of whether she’s drinking, if someone takes a picture of this scene, it’s bad news.”

Thinking, “I can’t let this chance slip away,” Kana goes to dinner with Shimanori another day. She finds it suspicious when Mako, who was supposed to join them, doesn’t show up, but she ends up going to Shimanori’s office anyway. Viewers reacted with comments like, “Networking… you don’t mean ‘pillow’ business?”, “There’s a bed…”, “She needs to escape now!”

Although things don’t progress to a physical relationship, the two spend the night until morning. As Kana leaves the apartment, thinking “Work really should be done steadily,” she is caught in a flash of paparazzi cameras, likely set up by Mako. Social media was immediately flooded with comments like, “Ah, she got photographed,” “This is bad,” “She’s been sold out,” “It’s over.”
