About Oshi no Ko
Oshi no Ko is a manga series originally serialized in Weekly Young Jump, with a story by Aka Akasaka and art by Mengo Yokoyari. It follows Gorou, an OB/GYN working in a rural town who assists in the delivery of his favorite idol, Ai. After being murdered, he is reborn as Ai’s child, only for the tragedy of Ai being stabbed to death by a stalker to occur. The story revolves around the mystery surrounding Ai’s sudden death, Aqua’s quest for revenge, and the darker side of the entertainment industry.
The series has sold over 25 million copies worldwide. The first season of the TV anime aired from April 2023, followed by the second season from July 2024. In the previous episode, Akane uncovered the connection between Ai’s death and Kamiki Hikaru. When it was suggested that Himekawa Daiki (CV: Kouki Uchiyama), Aqua’s half-brother, could be a child Kamiki fathered at age 11, comments like “That’s brutal…” and “This is scary…” flooded social media.
Aqua, heartbroken to learn his revenge isn’t over yet, voices his weakness. Akane admonishes him while saying, “I want to share the burden you’re carrying.” Viewers praised her with comments like “She’s too perfect,” “So cool,” and “Wife material.”
