Production has begun on a brand-new theatrical film in the KING OF PRISM series, titled KING OF PRISM-Tri-Star Act-. The announcement was made during the special event “KING OF PRISM SUPER LIVE Prism☆Tours!” held at Keio Arena TOKYO on June 28, 2026. Alongside the announcement, a teaser visual and a special trailer were unveiled.
The KING OF PRISM series began as a spin-off of the TV anime Pretty Rhythm: Rainbow Live (2013-2014) and launched its first film in January 2016. Known for popularizing the “responsive screening” (ouen jouei) style, the series follows a group of boys who aim to become “Prism Stars” by dazzling audiences with their prism shows.
The most recent film, KING OF PRISM-Your Endless Call- (released June 27, 2025), featured characters from across the “Pretty Series” and broke franchise records with a cumulative box office revenue exceeding 1.2 billion yen and over 600,000 admissions. It also received SCREENX, 4DX, and ULTRA 4DX screenings from August 22, 2025.
The teaser visual, illustrated by character designer Matsuura Mai, features the three senior members of the unit “SePTENTRION” — Tachibana Yukinojou (CV: Saitou Souma), Juuouin Kakeru (CV: Yashiro Taku), and Takatsukasa Minato (CV: Igarashi Masashi) — chatting together at the Edel Rose dormitory in the evening. The tagline reads: “That bond is now being tested.”
The special trailer opens with a scene where Houzuki Jin (CV: Miki Shinichirou), the head of the elite Prism Star training school Schwarz Rose, declares his intention to defeat Edel Rose in the trio competition “PRISM.3.” Other powerful units from the previous film, such as “TRI-UMviratuS” and “Over The Rainbow,” also announce their participation. Notably, Minato’s younger brother, Takatsukasa Ushio — now known as Takanawa Getaway Prince (CV: Kobayashi Chihiro) — issues a challenge: “I’ll bet my wings on this! Takatsukasa Minato!” The trailer also shows Yukinojou, Kakeru, and Minato expressing their personal feelings as they prepare to represent SePTENTRION in the tournament.
To commemorate the production start, Terashima Junta, who voices the protagonist Issa Shin, shared a comment:
“Finally, finally! A new KING OF PRISM film is in production! Thank you so much!!!! We’ve traveled through time and space on a time machine, and at last we’ve arrived. At a place where an unknown brilliance awaits — a trio tournament. I try to imagine what kind of developments await, but I’m sure it won’t be as I imagine, so I’ll just wait excitedly for the script to arrive… I look forward to the day we can shine together in the theater again!”
