Summer Anime ‘Taiari deshita.’ Episode 1 Preview: Aya Spots the ‘White Lily’ Mio Playing Fighting Games

The summer anime Taiari deshita. ~Ojousama wa Kakutou Game nante shinai~ has released the synopsis and advance scene cuts for Episode 1, titled “Kakugee wa Mou Yameru” (I Quit Fighting Games), which will begin airing on July 7 (Tuesday).

Based on the manga by Eshima Eri serialized in Monthly Comic Flapper, Taiari deshita. depicts the passionate fighting game battles that unfold at a ladies’ academy. The series was previously adapted into a live-action drama on NTT Docomo’s Lemino in 2023, and the manga has 10 volumes in print.

The story follows commoner Aya Fukatsuki, who enrolls in a prestigious ladies’ academy and admires the most prominent student, Mio Yoe, known as the “White Lily.” However, one day Aya witnesses Mio playing a fighting game alone in an empty classroom. Mio, in turn, realizes that Aya is also a fighting game player. Playing games on campus is strictly forbidden, but the two cannot resist the urge to battle. Thus begins the passionate fighting game life of these young ladies.

Episode 1 “Kakugee wa Mou Yameru” Synopsis

Aya Fukatsuki enters the high school division of Kurobami Girls’ Academy, a school full of young ladies. One day, she learns that fellow transfer student Mio Yoe is called the “White Lily” and is adored by everyone.

However, she happens to see the “White Lily” alone in an empty classroom, engrossed in a fighting game…

The summer anime Taiari deshita. ~Ojousama wa Kakutou Game nante shinai~ Episode 1 “Kakugee wa Mou Yameru” will begin airing on July 7 (Tuesday) on AT-X, TOKYO MX, MBS, BS Nittele, and NBC Nagasaki Broadcasting.

Streaming will be available on U-NEXT, Anime Hodai, and d Anime Store with a terrestrial advance and fastest delivery starting July 7 at 21:30. Other sites will begin streaming on July 12 at 21:30.
