“Moon” Characters: Who Comes to Mind? Survey Deadline: October 2nd [#ChuushuuNoMeigetsu]

Autumn, a season cherished in Japan, is also the perfect time for moon viewing. Since ancient times, the custom of admiring the moon has been passed down through generations. Particularly significant is the “Chushu no Meigetsu,” or Mid-Autumn Moon, on the 15th day of the eighth month of the old lunar calendar, which is traditionally regarded as the day the moon appears most beautiful. This year, the Chushu no Meigetsu falls on October 6th.

In the vibrant world of anime, we frequently encounter characters who share a deep, mystical connection with the moon. You might recall many such characters: some have ‘moon’ (tsuki) in their names, others were born and raised on the moon, transform their appearance on a full moon night, or draw their origins from ancient legends and folklore surrounding the celestial body. It’s a theme that resonates deeply in many beloved series.

To celebrate this cultural fascination, Anime!Anime! is excited to announce the return of our reader survey, “What are your favorite ‘Moon’ characters?”, after a three-year hiatus! This is your chance to tell us which character and their respective work comes to mind when you think of the moon. This is a free-response format, so feel free to name any character you believe fits the theme!

※The survey is open to characters appearing in 2D content, including anime (TV broadcasts, movies, streaming, OVA, etc.), games, CD series, and manga.

Basic information such as gender and age are optional, and you are welcome to participate without answering them!
