“Nigetsuri” TV Anime Adaptation & Spring 2026 Broadcast! Cast includes Serizawa Yuu, Tamaru Atsushi, Hayami Saori, and more in a Martial Arts Noble Lady’s Matchmaking Romantic Comedy

The light novel Nigashita Sakana wa Okatta ga Tsuriageta Sakana ga Oosugita Ken is officially receiving a TV anime adaptation, with a broadcast scheduled for Spring 2026. This announcement comes with the release of a teaser visual and a teaser PV, along with details on the main staff and an impressive main cast including Serizawa Yuu, Tamaru Atsushi, Hayami Saori, Umeda Shuuichirou, and Yashiro Taku.

A Glimpse into the World: Teaser Visual & PV

The newly released teaser visual, beautifully drawn by character designer Suzuki Isamu, perfectly captures the essence of the series. Against a sky adorned with scattering roses, we see Ducal Lady Mariia Annovazzi, resplendent in a gorgeous dress, striking a powerful punch with a radiant smile. A brass knuckle on her fist unmistakably highlights Mariia’s identity as a martial arts-trained noble lady, hinting at her incredible strength and charm.

The teaser PV provides a dynamic preview, showcasing Mariia’s bewilderment at the sudden engagement annulment and introducing a parade of fascinating characters. The scenes are woven together with comical and fast-paced editing, building great anticipation for the anime’s full story. The light novel, affectionately known as “Nigetsuri,” or Nigashita Sakana wa Okatta ga Tsuriageta Sakana ga Oosugita Ken, is a martial arts-savvy noble lady’s matchmaking romantic comedy. It began as a light novel by Momoyo Mayo with illustrations by Mito Itsuki, and has also spawned a popular manga adaptation by Nagato Kaki. The series has garnered significant attention, with cumulative sales surpassing 1 million copies!

The story centers on Mariia Annovazzi (nicknamed Mimi), the youngest daughter of the Annovazzi Ducal House, a family renowned for its martial arts traditions. Mariia, possessing exceptional martial arts talent, was initially raised as the family heir. However, her role was abruptly changed upon the birth of her younger brother. Tasked by her father to find a suitable husband, Mariia faces a dilemma: all eligible noble bachelors in the Kingdom of Muuro are already promised.

To widen her search, she travels to the neighboring Rubini Kingdom to study abroad, relying on her distant relative Aiida. Her matchmaking efforts take an unexpected turn at the Royal Academy’s graduation party, where Prince Renato di Rubini, a complete stranger, suddenly declares their engagement broken! How will Mariia’s quest for marriage unfold after being “dumped” from an engagement she never even knew existed?

This TV anime adaptation will be directed by Oguro Akira, with Yokote Michiko handling the series composition, and Suzuki Isamu designing the characters. Animation production will be handled by TROYCA. The main cast has also been announced, with Serizawa Yuu voicing Mariia Annovazzi and Tamaru Atsushi as Renato di Rubini. Hayami Saori joins as Aiida Ameetiisu, Umeda Shuuichirou as Purachido di Rubini, and Yashiro Taku as Raimondo Chigaata.

Original author Momoyo Mayo, light novel illustrator Mito Itsuki, and manga artist Nagato Kaki have all shared their excitement, along with comments from the main voice cast members. Mito-sensei and Nagato-sensei even provided special illustrations for the announcement!

I’m Serizawa Yuu, playing Mariia (Mimi)!

Mimi is truly a refreshing character to watch; she says whatever she thinks, so she’s completely honest and forthright—a truly innocent and tomboyish girl! You simply can’t take your eyes off her!!

She’s also a girl who has grown up surrounded by so much love. That includes her father, her family, the original author Momoyo Mayo-sensei and the production staff, and most of all, the fans of the original work.

I’ve poured just as much love into playing Mimi as she has received. I hope she can bring smiles to many people! Please look forward to it!

Tamaru Atsushi-san as Renato di Rubini

I’m Tamaru Atsushi, playing Renato!

In this work, starting with the protagonist Mimi, many characters appear who are not exactly “orthodox”… Renato also shows a noble and dignified side, but there are also many moments where viewers will want to interject with a retort. Every episode, I found myself enjoying the recording process due to the characters whose personalities defy their appearances, and the story that consistently veers off expectations. I’m sure that enjoyment will be amplified when it reaches all of you. Please look forward to it!

Hayami Saori-san as Aiida Ameetiisu

Aiida is a character who possesses a strong core and elegance within her kindness, serving as a warm support for the protagonist Mariia. The playful exchanges with Mariia, who is always cheerful and energizes those around her, were a joyful experience at the microphone that made me smile naturally.

Also, please pay attention to the adorable interactions between Aiida and Purachido-denka. Please look forward to the broadcast!

Umeda Shuuichirou-san as Purachido di Rubini

I’m Umeda Shuuichirou, entrusted with the role of Purachido di Rubini!

Mimi, who tackles a glittering world with her bare fists, is incredibly charming, making this a truly enjoyable work to read!

Purachido has a kind gaze and a wonderful demeanor. I made sure to portray both his royal side and his more down-to-earth side during recording. Please look forward to the broadcast!

Yashiro Taku-san as Raimondo Chigaata

I’m Yashiro Taku, appearing as Raimondo!

He primarily serves as an attendant to Renato-denka, always keeping a watchful eye. He is a very serious character who approaches his duties with great sincerity. However, his actions, driven by his devotion to Renato-denka, might sometimes lead to scenes that make onlookers chuckle a bit.
