Gekijouban Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Returns to Theaters in October 2025! Revival Screening Announced with Trailer and Key Visual
It has been announced that “Gekijouban Jujutsu Kaisen 0” will have a revival screening starting October 17, 2025. This news was revealed during the opening day stage greeting for “Gekijouban Soushuuhen Jujutsu Kaisen Kaijuu/Gyokusetsu”‘s theatrical release. Alongside the announcement, a main trailer and key visual were also unveiled.
“Jujutsu Kaisen” is a dark fantasy manga by Akutami Gege-sensei, which recently concluded its 6.5-year serialization in Shueisha’s “Weekly Shounen Jump”. The series has surpassed 100 million copies in circulation, including digital versions. The first season of the TV anime aired from October 2020 to March 2021. Its first film adaptation, “Gekijouban Jujutsu Kaisen 0”, released on December 24, 2021, became a massive hit, grossing 26.5 billion yen worldwide.
The second season of the TV anime, covering the “Kaijuu/Gyokusetsu” and “Shibuya Jihen” arcs, aired from July to December 2023 and garnered significant attention not only in Japan but across the globe. Furthermore, production of a sequel covering the “Shimetsu Kaiyuu” arc has been decided, promising even more excitement for fans. “Gekijouban Soushuuhen Jujutsu Kaisen Kaijuu/Gyokusetsu”, a special compilation of the five episodes from the TV series’ “Kaijuu/Gyokusetsu” arc, was released on May 30, 2025.
The revival screening is for “Gekijouban Jujutsu Kaisen 0”, which is based on the highly popular story “Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Tokyo Toritsu Jujutsu Koutou Senmon Gakkou” from the tankoubon volumes. This film depicts the prequel story to “Jujutsu Kaisen”, centering on Otokotsu Yuuta as the protagonist.
Chronologically, the film is set about 10 years after “Kaijuu/Gyokusetsu”, showing the “aftermath” of Gojou Satoru and Getou Suguru’s respective choices. With the theatrical release of “Kaijuu/Gyokusetsu”, this becomes a special opportunity to experience “Jujutsu Kaisen” on the big screen in chronological order.
The newly released main trailer opens with the backs of Gojou and Getou from their high school days. It goes on to depict the fates resulting from their choices approximately 10 years after “Kaijuu/Gyokusetsu”, as well as the struggles of “0”‘s protagonist, Otokotsu Yuuta, who is tormented by his own curse.
The video also features the fully manifested form of the Special Grade Cursed Spirit, Orikane Rika, and intense battle scenes with Getou, who causes chaos by involving the high school companions during the Hyakki Yakou (Night Parade of Hundred Demons), shaking the jujutsu world. What conclusion will they reach? Fans can look forward to witnessing the origin story of love and curses in “Jujutsu Kaisen” on the big screen once again.
Furthermore, to commemorate the revival screening of “Gekijouban Jujutsu Kaisen 0”, a new key visual drawn by MAPPA, the studio that produced the film, has been revealed. It depicts Otokotsu seemingly protecting a young Rika, while the Special Grade Cursed Spirit Rika gently envelops the two of them. This visual powerfully reminds us that this work is a story of both love and curses.
Following this announcement, Ogata Megumi, who voices Otokotsu, commented on her X account, expressing her deep joy and happiness. She also added, “If you watch it consecutively with ‘Gekijouban Soushuuhen Jujutsu Kaisen Kaijuu/Gyokusetsu’, your tear ducts are sure to break seeing the teachers’ figures.”
