Here are some glimpses from the promotional video and character visuals:

About Koori no Jouheki
Koori no Jouheki is a TV anime based on the immensely popular manga by Agasawa Kou-cha. As of the end of August 2025, the original manga has garnered over 160 million cumulative views on “LINE Manga” and boasts a remarkable total of over 1.94 million copies in circulation, including digital editions.
This poignant story revolves around Hikawa Koyuki, a high school student who struggles with social interactions and tends to build emotional walls between herself and others. She spends her days quietly, largely only truly connecting with her kind childhood friend, Azumi Miki. However, Koyuki’s tranquil routine is unexpectedly disrupted by Amamiya Minato, a boy who, for reasons unknown, relentlessly tries to close the distance between them. The narrative beautifully portrays the awkward, frustrating, yet undeniably endearing miscommunications and entanglements of youth, featuring the aloof Koyuki, the popular school idol Miki, the boundary-less Minato, and the kind-hearted and gentle basketball club member, Hino Youta. Prepare to immerse yourself in a bittersweet tale of youthful romance and self-discovery!
A Glimpse into the PV and Main Cast
The recently unveiled promotional video, released alongside the stunning teaser visual, opens with the introduction of our protagonist, Hikawa Koyuki. Due to her difficulties in interacting with others, she tends to keep her distance, often leading those around her to perceive her as “intimidating” or “cold”. The PV then beautifully introduces Miki, Koyuki’s popular childhood friend, followed by Minato, who effortlessly befriends anyone, and finally Youta, a gentle and soft-spoken individual.
Koyuki, who once mused, “If it means interacting with people I don’t get along with… I’d rather be alone,” will undoubtedly experience significant changes as she engages with these three unique personalities. This compact 60-second video perfectly encapsulates the charm of the story, leaving viewers eagerly anticipating the main broadcast.
Furthermore, the voices of these four pivotal characters are also featured in the PV, confirming the talented cast: Nagase Anna will voice Hikawa Koyuki, Izumi Fuuka will portray Azumi Miki, Chiba Shouya will lend his voice to Amamiya Minato, and Inomata Keishi will play Hino Youta. All four cast members, along with the director Mankyuu, have graciously shared their personal comments about the project, offering deeper insights into their roles and the anime’s appeal.
The TV anime Koori no Jouheki is slated to air from April 2026 on TBS and other channels. Fans are encouraged to look forward to further updates as they are released!
Comments from the Cast and Director
Nagase Anna as Hikawa Koyuki
Q1. What do you find appealing about this work?
It might be a bit different from simply calling it “appealing,” but this is the first work where I found myself shedding tears by superimposing my own experiences onto the characters. The series delicately portrays the worries, struggles, joys, and pains of young people. It felt as if the emotions and thoughts I harbored during my middle and high school years were finally put into words, allowing me to deeply empathize with the characters’ feelings and perspectives. I was truly moved by the protagonists’ clumsy interactions, their awkward sense of distance, and yet their persistent efforts to slowly approach and connect with one another, one step at a time.
Q2. What did you keep in mind while playing Hikawa Koyuki?
I tried to portray her such that her rich inner emotions could be glimpsed within her quiet demeanor. Koyuki is often misunderstood as “cold” or “indifferent,” but in reality, she is an exceptionally sensitive and perceptive individual. It’s precisely because she is so attuned to the nuances of people’s hearts that she becomes acutely aware of the impact her words can have on others and the heavy responsibility that comes with them. This awareness makes her timid in her interactions. I diligently worked to capture and express these internal fluctuations and conflicts within Koyuki’s character.
Izumi Fuuka as Azumi Miki
Q1. What do you find appealing about this work?
There are countless appealing aspects to this work, such as being able to love every single character or its overall stylish vibe! However, what I find particularly charming is how “relatable” it is. The way emotions arise towards others, how one falls in love, how one confronts oneself – all of these are depicted with such a realistic texture that I could find resonance within my own experiences. This is why I found myself wanting to cheer for the characters’ situations, and I realized while reading the original manga that people aren’t just made up of a single element… which is why I came to love every character.
Q2. What did you keep in mind while playing Azumi Miki?
The major premise was to be cheerfully bright! I tried not to overthink it too much, and more than just acting, I felt I was consciously “talking with everyone” more than usual. However, once I start thinking, my thoughts tend to run wild, becoming disorganized and bursting forth dramatically… so I’m striving to simply exist there as naturally and unpretentiously as possible! Miki’s mindset is truly “sunny” and the complete opposite of mine, so I even found myself getting hints and inspiration from conversations with other bright cast members on set!
Chiba Shouya as Amamiya Minato
Q1. What do you find appealing about this work?
This work delicately captures the fluctuations of human emotions, making you deeply empathize with the feeling of “that’s just how people are.” Yet, a surprisingly balanced and bright atmosphere pervades the entire story, creating a wonderful world that makes you want to keep turning the pages indefinitely. It avoids artificially creating character archetypes just to generate drama, resulting in a very natural vibe. Every character has their ups and downs, making unexpected moves, yet they all seem to have a clear core to their being. I believe this is a work that will undoubtedly warm your heart whenever the characters get even a little closer to happiness.
Q2. What did you keep in mind while playing Amamiya Minato?
From an acting perspective, I felt that Minato is a character where the “landing point” is very important. Since the serialization is complete, I made sure to read the entire story before approaching the role. I’m trying to immerse myself in the pace of a high school student’s life, ensuring I don’t forget my own emotional reactions when I first read it. The image of Minato, as seen by others, his own self-awareness, and his unconscious self, are quite divergent. I constantly scrutinize his character, making sure not to forget the objective perception I had as a reader, while also cherishing his perspective and feelings. I love Minato so much that I almost hesitate to present a single definitive answer with my voice, and honestly, because I relate to so many aspects of him, I’m playing him with great caution. It’s easy to forcibly box him into the framework of a “high school student seen by an adult,” so I want to make sure I don’t do that, and instead, diligently capture his genuine earnestness.
Inomata Keishi as Hino Youta
Q1. What do you find appealing about this work?
I believe the charm of this work lies in its meticulous and delicate psychological depiction, which is packed with all the emotions of youth – thoughts, friendships, romance, self-awareness, and struggles – that resonated with me during my teenage years, and I’m sure will resonate with anyone, even if they didn’t experience the exact same things. It’s a series that you’ll devour in one sitting, and even if you know the story, you’ll want to re-read it again and again.
Q2. What did you keep in mind while playing Hino Youta?
Initially, Youta’s height makes a strong impression, but his personality is calm, gentle, and he’s a healing-type character. He’s also a bit of a natural airhead (“tennen”). He interacts with everyone at a comfortable distance, making him a reassuring presence. However, even Youta hides worries and conflicts within himself. Since the work is a realistic high school romance and youth drama, I focused on portraying his appealing human qualities as naturally as possible, as if he were a real person.
Director Mankyuu
I am Mankyuu, and I will be directing Koori no Jouheki. The original manga possesses an astonishing ability to delicately verbalize the deep-seated emotions hidden within the hearts of teenage students. Guided by the power of those words, we will express this story in the form of animation. We aim to deliver the full charm of the original work, while also adding moments that only animation can truly portray… to all the viewers! Please look forward to it!
