To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the TV anime Inuyasha and the start of broadcasting of TV Anime MAO, a “Japanese Painting Style Creator’s Art” drawn by Setsuda, who handles the brush calligraphy for subtitles and talisman designs in TV Anime MAO, is now available.

Inuyasha is a TV anime based on the manga by Rumiko Takahashi, serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday from 1996 to 2008. Billed as “A Warring States Fairy Tale,” it is a fantasy action story set in the chaotic Warring States period where yokai roam and in the modern day, while delicately depicting the relationships and romantic entanglements of each character. The TV anime Inuyasha began airing in 2000, followed by Inuyasha: The Final Act in 2009, and four theatrical films were released. It has expanded through various media and continues to be loved by many fans.
MAO is a dark fantasy × time-slip mystery based on a manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday since 2019. Set in the Taisho era, it follows the story of a young onmyoji named Mao and a girl named Nanoka Kureha who wanders into his time from the Reiwa era, unraveling a 900-year-old “curse” of love and hatred. Directed by Teruo Sato, the TV anime is produced by Sunrise, marking the studio’s first Takahashi adaptation since the Inuyasha series. It airs for two consecutive cours starting April 4.

Pursuing a “Japanese painting-like” look down to the texture of lines and coloring, the “TV Anime ‘Inuyasha’ 25th Anniversary Japanese Painting Style Creator’s Art: Inuyasha (2 types)” depicts Inuyasha wearing his characteristic red coat of fire-rat fur, holding Tessaiga with a sharp expression.

The “TV Anime ‘Inuyasha’ 25th Anniversary Japanese Painting Style Creator’s Art: Sesshomaru (2 types)” depicts Sesshomaru holding Tokijin with a serene expression.

The “‘TV Anime MAO’ Broadcast Commemoration Japanese Painting Style Creator’s Art: Mao and Neko-oni (2 types)” portrays Mao facing the ominous Neko-oni with the Hasekishin sword drawn.

For the framed panels of Inuyasha, two types of fabric with different atmospheres are prepared: Kyoto donsu and kinran. For Sesshomaru, donsu and kinran. For MAO, Kyoto donsu and Kifune donsu. You can choose according to your room’s atmosphere or preference. Comes with a plaque engraved with a serial number.
