Bocchi the Rock! Projection Mapping at Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building Starts June 20 with ‘Seishun Complex’

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government building will become a canvas for a dazzling new projection mapping featuring Bocchi the Rock! as part of the ongoing “TOKYO Night & Light” event. The new show, titled “Bocchi the Rock! Seishun Complex,” begins on June 20, 2026.

About Bocchi the Rock!

Based on the popular four-panel manga by Hamaji Aki serialized in Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara MAX, the television anime aired in fall 2022 and gained massive popularity, especially among young viewers. The story follows the extremely shy and introverted girl Hitori Gotou as she joins the band Kessoku Band and grows alongside its three unique members—a tale that has resonated deeply with many.

The series achieved a record-breaking eight awards at the “ANIME TRENDING AWARDS (2022)”, including Anime of the Year, and took first place in the TV & Streaming category at the “Newtype Anime Awards 2022-2023.” Its music also made waves: the full album Kessoku Band ranked first in Oricon’s 2023 Digital Album ranking and topped Billboard JAPAN’s Year-End Download Album Chart.

Projection Mapping Details

For this new projection work, the theme is the opening song “Seishun Complex.” The mapping will fill the entire face of the government building with a colorful, pop world. It aims to capture the expressive faces and passion of Hitori Gotou and her three bandmates, along with the sparkling emotions they pour into the music—rendered through vibrant visuals and dynamic effects.

As the music plays, graphics and imagery transform in sync, expanding the world of Bocchi the Rock! and coloring the building with the song. The projection turns all the anxieties and exhilaration of youth into music, offering an energetic, pop-driven visual experience on an overwhelming scale unique to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building.
