Based on the manga by Yamada Kanehito and illustrated by Abe Tsukasa, the TV anime Sousou no Frieren began airing in September 2023. The story unfolds in a world after the Demon King has been defeated by the hero’s party. It follows Frieren, a powerful magic user who has lived for over a thousand years, as she embarks on a journey to “understand humans” following the death of Himmel, the hero with whom she once defeated the Demon King.
The series quickly captivated audiences with its dynamic storytelling, seamlessly blending comedic and heartwarming interactions between characters with intense, serious battle scenes involving magic and swords. The fast-paced yet nuanced narrative proved incredibly popular. Fans will be thrilled to know that the production of a second season was announced during the “Anime Broadcast 1st Anniversary Special Screening” in September 2024, with its premiere slated for January 2026 on the Nippon TV network.
Frieren, Frieren & Himmel, and the Hero Party are now immortalized in stunning “Cup & Saucer” sets through a special collaboration with Noritake. Established in 1914 with the first successful production of dinnerware in Japan, Noritake’s Western-style tableware and ceramic products are celebrated worldwide. Their delicate designs, infused with Japanese aesthetics, along with their superior quality and elegance, have earned them a beloved place in homes across the globe.
This exquisite collection features three distinct designs. The “Frieren Cup & Saucer” highlights Frieren’s large travel bag and the blue butterfly that often accompanies her on her journeys. Designed for everyday use, the cup’s overall aesthetic subtly evokes the essence of Frieren herself.
For the “Frieren & Himmel Cup & Saucer,” the striking Blue Moonflower Grass, a flower from Himmel’s hometown, takes center stage. This design pays homage to Himmel’s heartfelt wish, “Someday, I want to show you this,” and the touching scene where Frieren places a flower crown on Himmel’s statue. The design, featuring birds symbolizing Frieren and Himmel adorned with flower crowns, is truly noteworthy.
Lastly, the “Hero Party Cup & Saucer” is inspired by the enchanting flower field magic Frieren displayed in Episode 2, adorned with the weapons of the Hero Party.
Adding to their elegance, each cup and saucer features the Noritake logo and the series title, Sousou no Frieren, printed on their respective undersides. Crafted from Noritake’s beautiful bone china with gleaming gold accents along the rim of both the cup and saucer, these items exude a luxurious feel. Please note that due to the gold embellishments, these products are not safe for microwave use.
