Anime! Anime! conducted a reader survey titled “Which character would you want to help you with your summer homework?” Here are the results!

August 31st is “Homework Day.” Many of us probably have memories of frantically finishing all our summer homework on the very last day.
During those times, it’s natural to find ourselves daydreaming, wishing “If only that character could help me with my homework…” From top students who excel academically, to kind older brothers and sisters who would gently guide you, or even strict teachers who would make sure you stay on track – who would you choose as your ideal homework companion?
With this in mind, Anime! Anime! conducted a reader survey titled “Which character would you want to help you with your summer homework?” The survey, held from August 8th to August 15th, received responses from 636 individuals. The demographics showed a majority of female respondents, making up approximately 70% of the total, with males accounting for about 30%. The younger generation was particularly well-represented, with around 70% of respondents being 19 years old or younger.

The Saviors of Homework Assemble!
#1 Winner Revealed!
Coming in at the top spot, rising from second place last year, is none other than Doraemon from the beloved series Doraemon, securing approximately 9% of the votes!
The vast majority of readers expressed their hope that “Doraemon would surely help with his secret gadgets.” Many even requested specific tools, such as the “Computer Pencil” that can automatically write answers, or the “Anki-Pan” (Memory Bread) which allows you to memorize content simply by eating bread with the information printed on it. However, respondents also highlighted Doraemon’s endearing strictness. While they might wish for secret gadgets, some admitted, “He might tell me I have to do it myself.” Others noted, “He doesn’t just spoil Nobita but also scolds him when necessary.” This balance of helpfulness and tough love is part of his charm. It seems many readers, despite yearning to finish their homework in a single day, also understand that over-reliance isn’t the best approach.
#2 Triumphant Duo!
Tied for second place, each with approximately 5% of the votes, are Ishigami Senkuu from Dr.STONE and Koro-sensei from Ansatsu Kyoushitsu (also known as Assassination Classroom).
Ishigami Senkuu from Dr.STONE is a character renowned for his exceptional prowess in scientific fields. Readers were captivated by his intellect, commenting: “His scientific knowledge is on another level! He’d probably have answers for anything science-related in seconds, and for free research projects, he’d guide us through roadmap creation, experimentation, and verification in a clear and enjoyable way.” Another fan added, “Through crafting tools and conducting experiments, he’d satisfy our thirst for knowledge. Even if he grumbles, ‘Can’t be helped, I guess,’ he’d surely help us complete a masterpiece.” Many also expressed a desire to “witness Senkuu’s scientific machine-gun talk firsthand and expand our knowledge of science.” It’s clear that a significant number of readers wished for his assistance specifically with their science-based free research projects.
Koro-sensei from Ansatsu Kyoushitsu received high praise for his exceptional skill in rehabilitating a class of underachievers. Voters lauded him as “The brilliant teacher who transformed the ‘End Class E’ into the ‘Excellent Class E’!” Many appreciated his personalized approach: “He provides one-on-one instruction tailored to each student’s weaknesses. With his Mach 20 speed, he could even take us on field trips for an enjoyable, experiential learning journey.” Others noted, “He not only improves academic ability but also teaches important life lessons for the future.” He was enthusiastically described as the ultimate teacher for making learning fun. This series, celebrating its 10th anniversary, has seen a resurgence in popularity with reruns and radio programs, undoubtedly contributing to Koro-sensei’s strong showing in this ranking.

For Waguri Kaoruko from Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku (The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity), one reader commented: “She’s a scholarship student at an elite girls’ school, always at the top of her class. In episode 4, she even tutored Rintarou-kun, helping him avoid a failing grade, which shows just how excellent she is at teaching.”
Tsutsujimori Ro Shou from Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle- was praised with comments like: “As a math teacher with a caring personality, and even a former comedian, he’d make study sessions both easy to understand and incredibly fun. He’s a serious and passionate individual, so if I ever tried to slack off, he’d probably light a fire under me – but honestly, that’s part of his charm too!”
Riddle Rosehearts from Disney Twisted-Wonderland garnered votes because “He consistently earns perfect scores in all subjects and is always the top student in his year. He even made test prep notes for his senior, Cater-senpai, so he would definitely stick with you until you fully understand your homework.”
Morofushi Takaaki from Meitantei Konan (Detective Conan) received votes, with one fan noting: “He’s a genius who graduated at the top of his class from Touto University’s Faculty of Law. While I believe he’d be proficient in all subjects, his deep knowledge of the Three Kingdoms era suggests he’d be particularly thorough and insightful when teaching world history and classical Chinese.” This character, who also played a significant role in this year’s movie, clearly left an impression.
The 2025 edition of this survey revealed a strong preference for characters who offer a “three-in-one” package: quick, enjoyable, and effective learning. It wasn’t just about getting help; the compassionate and thoughtful personalities who would genuinely work alongside respondents also played a significant role in accumulating votes.
