Special Program “Rokutou Ichiza Arc Opening Special Program” Broadcast on ABEMA

On Saturday, May 10th, ABEMA exclusively broadcast the TV anime 『WIND BREAKER Season 2』 special program titled “Rokutou Ichiza Arc Opening Special Program” for free.

During this program, the PV for the new arc, “Rokutou Ichiza Arc”, was unveiled for the first time, and new cast information was also announced. The program featured Uchida Yuuma (playing Sakura Haruka), Chiba Shouya (playing Nirei Akihiko), and Oosaka Ryouta (playing Tsubakino Yuu). They were also joined by the newly announced cast member, **Okitsu Kazuyuki**, who plays Nakamura Kanji. The voice actors looked back on the previous “KEEL Arc” and shared highlights of the upcoming “Rokutou Ichiza Arc”.

What were Tsubakino Yuu’s Voice Acting Points, According to Oosaka Ryouta?

The broadcast kicked off to celebrate the start of the “Rokutou Ichiza Arc”. The program began with the first public reveal of the PV and the announcement of new cast members. Okitsu Kazuyuki was revealed as Nakamura Kanji, the leader of the ultra-combative group “Rokutou Ichiza”, and Ueda Reina was announced as Narita Shizuka, a girl who looks up to Kanji and was rescued by Sakura and his companions when she was being pursued. Uchida-san, Chiba-san, and Oosaka-san expressed their excitement, saying things like “They are two strong individuals!” and “The strongest!”. Furthermore, Okitsu-san appeared in the studio as a special guest, getting the program off to a lively start.

Besides reflecting on the “KEEL Arc”, the program also showed a digest focusing on Tsubakino Yuu, a key person in the “Rokutou Ichiza Arc”. Here, Oosaka-san shared details about his approach to portraying the character. Tsubakino is characterized by his love for cute things and his appearance featuring skirts, high heels, and ribbons. Oosaka-san mentioned that even during the audition, the direction was “He is a male, just his way of speaking is feminine, so please don’t make it sound like an onee”. Oosaka-san explained his conscious effort in acting: “When you speak in a standard onee style, the end of the sentence tends to have a high pitch. That would diminish the male aspect, so I was mindful of ending sentences with a lower pitch. He is not someone who wants to become a girl; he is a boy who likes cute things.”

Oosaka-san also discussed the challenge of Tsubakino’s very first line, “We finally meet~” during his initial encounter with Sakura. He struggled with how rough Sakura’s reaction, “Your voice is too deep!”, should sound, considering Sakura initially mistook Tsubakino for a woman. Oosaka-san reflected, “If Sakura had said ‘Your voice is low!’, perhaps someone else would have been more suitable for the role, but it was ‘Your voice is deep!’, not ‘low!’. I interpreted that Sakura half-believed he was a woman, and to create that slight misdirection, I consciously made my voice a little deeper than usual for that line.” Chiba-san praised Oosaka-san’s performance, stating, “Tsubakino is a character with incredibly rich expressions, so I couldn’t really picture how he would speak. But Oosaka-san’s straightforward portrayal made it fit perfectly. Once I heard it, I couldn’t imagine any other voice for him!”

Okitsu Kazuyuki Describes Nakamura Kanji: “Extremely Energetic!”

The cast continued by discussing the highlights of the “Rokutou Ichiza Arc”. When asked for his impression of Nakamura Kanji, Okitsu-san immediately and decisively replied, “Energetic! Extremely energetic!”, which brought laughter to the studio. On the other hand, when the topic turned to his relationship with Shizuka, whom Kanji deeply cares for, Okitsu-san blushed and said, “Stop it~!”, eliciting further laughter.

Regarding Shizuka, it was mentioned that she is a singer who performs on stage with Tsubakino at the “Show Pub OUGI”. This led to speculation about whether she would sing in the anime as in the original work, and what kind of stage performances Tsubakino would put on. The four cast members hinted, “Please look forward to it!”, and “The storyboards were unbelievably serious!”, raising anticipation among fans.

Thus, the program, filled with laughter, quickly came to an end. Finally, the four cast members sent messages to the fans. Okitsu-san commented with humor, “The Rokutou Ichiza Arc is finally starting. We were fooling around a bit on this program, but we are working very seriously on the production, so please look forward to it!” Uchida-san concluded the program by speaking about the highlights of Season 2, saying, “With the appearance of new characters, the passion on the recording site increased, and we continued recording while ensuring that passion was properly conveyed in the work. Various characters’ dramas are depicted in the series, but in this season, we are portraying what is truly important to everyone, their core selves.
