Gekijouban Kusuriya no Hitorigoto: Bouhi no Hihou Unveils Seven Updates, First Visitor Bonus, and Second Mubichike

Gekijouban Kusuriya no Hitorigoto: Bouhi no Hihou opens in Japan on December 11, 2026. Ahead of the release, seven updates have been revealed, including the first theatrical visitor bonus, the second round of Mubichike advance tickets, a completion preview screening, and a Friday Roadshow special. The film is the first theatrical entry in the Kusuriya no Hitorigoto series.

The main poster visual has also been unveiled.

Based on Hyuuga Natsu’s light novel published by Imagica Infos’s Hero Bunko, Kusuriya no Hitorigoto is a mystery entertainment series with more than 57 million copies in circulation worldwide. Set in the rear palace, it follows Maomao, a poison tester who solves difficult cases. The TV anime aired its first season from October 2023 to March 2024 and its second season from January to July 2025, and Season 3 has been airing since October.

The film, Gekijouban Kusuriya no Hitorigoto: Bouhi no Hihou, features a completely new story with an original draft by Hyuuga Natsu, centering on a new mystery involving a hidden treasure in a water city.

Completion preview screening

A completion preview screening will be held on December 5 at a venue in Tokyo, billed as the world’s fastest chance to see the film. Yuuki Aoi, Ootsuka Takeo, Mikami Ai, Ise Mariya, Ono Kenshou, and Sawashiro Miyuki are scheduled to appear for a stage greeting. The film’s original characters are performed by Mikami, Ise, Ono, and Sawashiro. Lottery applications are planned via the official social media, official website, and TOHO-ONE, with details to be announced later.

Second Mubichike round and theater bonus

The second round of Mubichike advance tickets will go on sale on November 13. The designs differ by sales channel, with two types: one featuring Maomao and Jinshi in theatrical costumes, and another using original art from the latest key visual with Maomao, Jinshi, and Mokusei. Theaters will also offer a clear file of the teaser visual as a purchase bonus, limited to 50,000 people nationwide. TOHO animation STORE ONLINE and FamilyMart will offer advance tickets with goods, and additional bundle plans are being adjusted.

First visitor bonus

From opening day on December 11, the first theatrical visitor bonus will be distributed. It is a booklet featuring Kiro no Himawari, a newly written short story by Hyuuga Natsu that depicts a sequel to the film with Maomao and Jinshi. The booklet also includes interviews with Yuuki Aoi, Ootsuka Takeo, Ise Mariya, and Hyuuga Natsu, plus character setting art. It is limited to 1.5 million copies nationwide. One booklet will be given per person per screening at theaters showing the film; availability varies by theater and ends when stock runs out. The bonus is not for sale, and resale, copying, reproduction, or diversion is prohibited.

Friday Roadshow special

On the same December 11, Friday Roadshow will air a special edition of Kusuriya no Hitorigoto at 21:00. The special is centered on the second cour of the TV anime’s second season and adds about four minutes of new footage connected to the season’s emotional final scene.

Recap distribution schedule

A series recap will be distributed on streaming platforms ahead of the film and the Friday Roadshow broadcast, compiling the TV anime by cour.

Novel, manga, and animal series

On December 9, Shousetsu Kusuriya no Hitorigoto: Bouhi no Hihou will be released. Hyuuga Natsu has novelized the newly written film plot herself. On the same day, Komikaizu Kusuriya no Hitorigoto: Bouhi no Hihou will begin serialization on Sunday Webry. A product line based on the characters, titled Kusuriya Animals, has also been decided.
